Ok so I am newish to the game, been out of game for a while and thought I would start a new character so I have next to nothing in SP at the mo, I am interested in PVP be it small gang or fleet based and will eventually want to go into a nullsec pvp corp. Just wanted to ask what do these corps look for in pvp characters and whats the best way to get into the action as a young character without being laughed at and being told to sod off?
Many thanks. |

what a Corp looks for?
activity and enthusiasm.
Go ahead and try to get in on some action in a reasonable fit frigate for your skills.
get blown up, laugh, learn.
try to blow up the other guy.
Your KB will look red but active.
Any Corp that doesn't want you cause you die a lot or can only fly frigates isnt a good fit anyways.
You will know the Corp is alright when they are excited to get you to join after seeing your horrible KDR and Red killboard that is active and demonstrates willingness to dive in head first.
IMO of course. |

Simple:
1. Good attitude. 2. Willing to learn. 3. Willing to die. 4. Ability to fly a PvP ship. 5. Knowledge in PvP situations (can be improved by point 2).
6. Willing to be forced to train a doctrine ship (only applies to certain corps).
As for where to start. It depends on what EXACTLY you are looking for but here are some pointers:
A. Faction Warfare. B. RvB C. Follow Agony classes. D. Join public roams
D-A. Saturdays you have RvB Ganked roams. D-B. Sundays you have Redemption Road roams.

There are corps who will take completely inexperienced people. In this case the emphasis on points 1-3 is even more important. Rifterlings - small gang frigate PvP - lowsec pirate operation, newbie-friendly, free ship program; Join today! www.rifterlings.com

Rapterman-
I posted on your "looking for a corp" thread but I felt like another one is deserved here. Petrus is completely right, the good attitude and willingness to learn/die are huge when getting into a corp. Nobody likes a scumbag, so being friendly and open to other's advice will get you a long way!

I did list you in order of importance. So first 3 outclass 4 and 5 and ALL of them outclass 6 by miles Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

In my experience 4, 5, and 6 only apply to certain groups, they do not prevent you from a PVP carreer in nullsec. Proper SP allocation, prior PVP experience, and willingness to allocate SP to doctrines all stem from 'good attitude', which is bluntly put the willingness to put some damn effort in whatever you do. Just strive to improve your game and you will succeed. |

Yeah what J'Poll said basically.
Some, like Shadow Cartel are more restrictive. Not because we are snobs, but because if you cant fly t3s, recons with recon 5 etc then you really wont fit into our fleets and that will be very boring for you. That said, a good attitude, know some dudes on the inside already and a willingness to work hard will open a lot of closed doors.
You can have a gazzilion SP but if you are an arrogant prick then no thank you.
A good attitude, willingness to go that extra mile and if you are willing to fly logi.. well then a lot of doors open :) Despite logi being the most fun anyone can have while still doing legal stuff so few want to do it. |

When I was still young I was able to get into corps with my 2 mil SP when the requirement is 7 mil SP.
it is all in the Attitude. Have the right one as other already mentioned and you will do fine.
If they can't see past your SP then it is their loss. "I saw him fight by the monument in Jita. He flowed in his Machariel like a Shinto spirit, 800MM shells sprouting in his passing. His hair flowed in the corona of his target's warp core breach. It was truly majestic. And while everyone stared in awe I stole the loot and ran off. Because I am like that." - NEONOVUS |

Some PvP activity on your killboard, evidence of balls, not repeating the same mistakes an excessive number of times, and a loss history that doesn't show you trying to fly too big/shiney for your age/SP.
Mostly though, it comes down to attitude. everevolutionaryfront.blogspot.com |

My corp just took in a fella that couldn't fly much more than his Executioner. He reminded me of myself, and so to complete the circle of Eve life, I'm working on getting him up to speed, in the context of an active Nullsec PVP alliance, in the middle of a war against elite opponents.
Some groups like to limit their membership to the elite. Personally, I think the majority of these entities are destined to fail, as even a clueless, SP-deprived newbie has both present potential, and a valuable future. All you need to do is invest some time, and they'll be your future FC's and logisticians. I am an example of this, having left for Nullsec at 3m SP. And I probably could've gone with less.
The real limiter, when it comes to corps recruiting newbies, is their ability to invest their time into you, or the presence of pre-existing infrastructure and amenities to take the place of a one-on-one mentor. Things like a robust wiki, or video tutorials, instructional images, or forum stickies full of links to excellent training material. Making, maintaining, and compiling these amenities is a never-ending process, and is difficult. Most corps don't have a lot of it, either, and in turn have to invest in you the old fashioned way - By answering every question you can think of(which hopefully is a lot).
I took two new fellas on an alliance fleet in some tackle, furious typing out information, as the situation's needs dictated(typing because the fleet voice comms were best not clogged up just for our sake, at that time). It was exhausting.
Either this, or a misunderstanding of the nature of Eve(and the constant need for new blood) is the primary reason you'll find people trying to keep newbies at arms length, or ask for a minimum SP. It doesn't have to do with a lack of potential at your present experience/SP. It has to do with their limited patience.
You can go to Nullsec now, if you wished. You could find an effective and experienced group that would have you. You'll just have to find a corp willing to go through the effort of helping you up those early, steep segments of The Learning Cliff. So it's up to you, not your SP, whether you want to go now or later.
