I'm starting to really go in details with this incident. Going to be exciting to know which theory is the correct one. If we ever get to know it.

This has nothing to do with USSR (which does not exist) "secret service".

"Tree" level speculation. Generates more questions than it answers. Meanwhile, there's a couple of big white elephant in the room.
Put on an actor cap. Imagine you're some professional arch terrorist leader who's out to cause anarchy to the world, just for the exercise
You hijack/take possession of an asset for certain reasons. A Boeing 777 - a huge flying target (radar wise), very public settings (lots of eyes) and its every move is constantly tracked (both satellite and when it's within cellphone coverage landmass). Though the world is big and there are blind spots, to know map these require extensive intel resources that costs both time and money. Furthermore, after you've jolted the hornet's nest, you'll have to contend with anti-terrorist organizations and counter-intelligence coming down after you and breathing down your neck. Do you really want all these attention? Do you have a godfather or guardian angel who you can cry back to if things go bad? The rewards had better be worth the risks you're taking.
For a 2-bit terrorist organization (read cheap, poor and disorganized), I wouldn't even bother. There are other nefarious plans out there that are far cheaper, easier to implement and is similarly effective. On the well funded side of the coin, well, here's where it becomes interesting. Follow the money trail. Blackmail the pilots? Well, blackmail and hijack are two separate tasks that complicates the overall plan. The more complex you make the plan, the more it leaks and the more it has the chance to fail. Blackmailing may backfire if the pilot retains his integrity (despite the threats) and alerts the police/intel branch. It may also fail if the pilot does a 180 degree turn and changes his mind during the heist. This is too risky and unreliable.
At this point in time imo, whatever rumors that's circulating within the intelligence communities (i.e. real intelligence services) is probably closer to the truth than the media reports. Unfortunately, the public isn't privy to classified information. |

the FBI is a nation wide "police" in the united states that deal with crime that crosses state borders. "Federal" crimes
The United States Secret Service is a part of the department of treasure and deal with financial crime and the protection of the president, ex presidents, presidential candidates and visiting heads of state.
the CIA on the other hand is an intelligence gathering agency that operates on an international level. The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity. |

I didn't suggest that the FBI is the secret service by title. I was comparing it with the USSR secret service because I think their track record for honesty and justice are similar. Most countries don't even have an FBI because the police already operates on a national level.

American investigators reviewing a hard drive belonging to the captain of missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 have found that there were deletions of information even closer to the final flight than first indicated by Malaysian officials, U.S. law enforcement officials tell CNN."
"It's possible too that some damage could have been done during the first examinations done by Malaysian investigators."
"Malaysian authorities waited six days to search the pilots' homes. This was enough time, U.S. officials believe, for someone who had access to the homes perhaps to have tampered with evidence."

Methinks they would have just vanished the whole plane. No wreckage.
Anyway, I sure hope they can find that black box. If it was not a pilot hijacking, we seriously need to know what happened.
There may be some fundamental flaw in the 787 series, or whatever it is.........
