I got a question, if it is part of the background, how come when you turn off "sun is occluded by ships" the distortion is effected the same way as the star next to you (which is real) ?

Its probably a gigantic, untargetable object that sits far enough away from the system that no one can reach it.

because you disable the effect.

But that means that it has to be an object subject to the same effect as the stars are, which again means it has to be an object in space rather then just a part of the background.

The back story says any ship that gets close enough will get torn apart by the electrical storms and whatnot.
I think its real, but I think noone has really tried to get to it yet... im talking 23hours of MWD crusader malarky going at 10+km/s then taking a bookmark and continuing on. ----- If you kill all the wolves, your gonna end up with a crapload of bunnies, and by bunnies I mean stupid people Eve & Linux Woot! |

no need to flame, the effect probably gets disabled for every object, no matter if its background or not. you can call it a bug if you want.

If it is an object with an actual position within the system, it can theorically be reached. But keep in mind that a ship going at 10 km/s takes about six months to cover 1 AU. ;-)
Have you tried using the scanner with maximum range? Probes? -------------------- Do you have a solution to the BM and instas problem? Test it against the bookmark requirements. |

Can I see a picture of this gate in New Eden? Don't want to travel all the way there myself.

Er.. I think he meant when you turn it ON, not off. He's saying that it's affected by "sun occluded by ships" so it has to be an object. In reality, it doesn't have to be at all but it's a reasonable assumption.
