In association with CCP Games, Eve online will be appearing at the Wellington Pulp Culture expo, at the Wellington Events Centre this weekend, April 29 and 30. www.pulpexpo.com
We are treating this as a "test" event before the big one in Auckland in October, but we'll have Eve in all its glory on display, plus all the best Eve movies ever made.
Guests will be able to have a play and experience Eve, as well as getting a free 14 day trial.
So if you're an Eve player and you're in Wellington, get along to the Expo as it should be good fun, and come and say hi to us at the Eve Online booth, in the video gaming area.
We look forward to more Kiwis joining the Eve universe, and any feedback from visitors after the event to help us make the Auckland expo a huge success.
Any questions let me know, otherwise see you there!
Eve online ftw

Would be so cool if they went... I think it's the only time i'll ever get to see them. I've tried going to the last two fanfests and both times I was broke :/ -

To answer some of the questions, no unfortunately no Devs will be in attendance. However for the Auckland one, you never know what I might be able to arrange
This is purely an opportunity for us to show off Eve to the rest of the world in another way.
Myself and another player, Angel Violette, will be on the booth both days, Sat and Sunday, showing people the game, discussing how it's the greatest game in the world, and giving people 14 day trial cards so they can experience the game for themselves.
We would love for any existing Eve players to come along and say hello, and show your support.
As well as a chance for us to show off our favourite game to Wellington residents, this is also a test for what works, what doesn't, for the big Armageddon event in Auckland in October. After the Wellington event I'll review how successful it was, and whether it's worth doing the Auckland show, and if it is, how far we go with it. My initial thoughts is to make the Auckland one an amazing event, but that all depends on the market interest, and of course how many of you, the Kiwi Pod-Piloting community, give us your support.
At Wellington you'll even be able to log in and play, with vistors able to watch you playing, so feel free and come down for some PvP action (it probably looks better than mining )
Any questions post them here, or contact me in-game....and see you there!! JForce The Arrow Project N.W.A Reprezent

So how many computers are you going to have set up?
Eve Merchandising? Posters? Mugs? T-shirts?
Do you need a hand with making your stall look busy?
Issues of E-ON for people to look at?
Large prints of various in-game stuff like alliance map, descriptions of famous alliances/corps/forum celebrities?
Have you run promo's like this before?
As far as I know, you can count the number of local wellington players on 2 hands.

Are you co-arranging anything within eve for other NZ players (not in wellington) so they can participate also?
Ie NZ pvp event somewhere in the eve-verse. ?
Would consider making the trip into empire to participate (and im sure most of my corp would feel the same). "We worship Strength because it is through strength that all other values are made possible" |

More answers!!
1) No merchandise for sale at the Wellington one, it's something we're considering for Auckland. Similarly, no E-ON as the forum isn't right for that, same with hard-copy of things. Community sites such as this and others will be on-hand to show the depth of information and community involvement which helps make Eve so great.
2) PCs? For Wellington there will only be a handful, which leads me to:
3) NZ PvP event etc? For the Auckland event we're considering a mass PvP event, which would involve obviously a lot more PCs, and more players being involved. All ideas will be considered once we get the Wellington event out of the way JForce The Arrow Project N.W.A Reprezent

Nothing that you as an experienced player won't have seen before. Sad I know, but all the cool stuff we can muster will be unleashed upon Auckland
Remember this is not for you, this is for non-Evers to take a look at our game, to ask questions, so that they can go away and try it. It's not a fan-fest.
But if demand is enough then Auckland could easily double as the NZ Evefest. I just want to get through this weekend and show off Eve to the public first, and then I'll be thinking and planning for Auckland, and will consider all ideas and offers of help JForce The Arrow Project N.W.A Reprezent

Id buy EVE merchandise at the Auckland event.
The main reason I havent, is due to the shipping fee costing as much as whatever it is I wish to buy.
CCP hook this guy up with stuff to sell! I want a fluffy gurista bunny!

I wasn't suggesting it to be a fanfest. Far from it. I was just wondering what cool stuff ye go planned to pull the crowds.
The thing is even if welly is a pilot event for aucks you're not going to get a good impression on how well Eve is received if there is nothing at welly.
Otherwise it sounds like you're just giving away a whole bunch of 14 day free trials to get lots of buddy raffle tickets.

We won't get anything from giving away free-trials. These trials come direct from CCP.
If you've never seen Eve, there will be plenty to see. There are limits to what we can do for tons of reasons.

Now THAT'S dedication....but seriously, I'd reconsider. Yes we'd love to meet fellow Eve players, but as I said it's more of an Eve introduction for non-players. You're better off saving yourself for Auckland, when we plan to rock the party! JForce The Arrow Project N.W.A Reprezent

Can not make it this week end to Wellington, but should be able to make it to Auckland (missed it last years as I was at Fan Fest). Am planning on going to Fanfest again this year but as it is now in November I can attend both.
We should also see about getting some of the Eve Card Game for Auckland (if it is available by then). I will volunteer my time to help out on the Auckland Stand and 'Might' even bring the signed Image I got at fanfest for being the 'Player from far far away'.
Getting some merchandice for the Auckland Event would be good as it would provide a reason for more of the 'Eve' playing community to visit as shipping is rather expensive to old NZ.
Not sure of the location of the Auckland Event, but if is still at the same place in Auckland, then it might be worth trying to book some time on the big screen in one of the theatres and due the 'Eve Video' and talk think. Just something to think about.
