I have an R&D POS and I recruited a player that does R&D type stuff for the corp. Naturally I gave her rights to access the hangars that we store stuff that is available to those that perform these R&D functions. I gave her access to the same hangar divisions at Hangar Access (Other). She claims she cannot and needs the Starbase Config Equipment role. While her interview into the corp sounded innocent and everything asking for such a BIG permission in order to take copies from a lab is sounding every alarm my body is capable of producing...so naturally I stripped her of every right I have given her until I can figure this out. Is she being honest that it does require this role or is this a fail attempt at trying to steal the Moon+POS and modules? |

Never done it :D
But according to this:
https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Starbase_Configuration_Roles
I think you need to setup something called "Secondary structure access" .
Wrong place for this question by the way. Y would get better answers asking in Science and Industry ...

This.
But anyway, the POS and other Corp rights management is a complete mess and the code behind it is reported to make seasoned coders break down and cry.
There are hints that things are going to get better, but it'll take some time and some very brave coders to get it done.

Would just be easier to create a new system to replace the current POS system and then turn off all the items associated with the old POS system in the database. |

Hmm, note that the new 'personal' deployables have been presented as "free of legacy POS code".
So yes, but it will take time, and lots of things will have to be changed under the hood before they can nuke the current version and present a new and hopefully much better version.
I'd guess 18 to 36 months.

I'm not logged in right now, but Hangar Access (other) sounds right. She def does not need the config role to access the hangar. I know violence isn't the answer. I got it wrong on purpose. |

You do not need Config Starbase Equipment to do research,
However, it is VERY COMMON for people to forget to set the access on the labs to "Corporation". This is done from the POS management menu. |

Sounds like that may be the underlying issue in this case. |

Well it seems your instincts have served you where your knowledge of poses has failed. Since no one else has bothered answering the question, I will tell you now that this person most certainly is looking to rob you blind. Good on you for sniffing out the ruse.
Now, the only correct course of action is to play along with her game, claiming to have given the starbase config role as a lure for her greed (and play on her assumption that you're a moron). Maybe you could turn off the corp member usage setting while she has no roles. Then tell her you've given roles. This should result in her being stuck outside the shield while you try to 'fix the situation.' Then use the pos guns, your own ship, or corpmates to kill her (pod her if you can). This will hopefully mark her character and hopefully show up on future background checks. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"
Never forget. |

Thanks guys. I think she was being honest about it. The labs were for some reasons set so only those with Starbase Config to take from...anyhow, if she still tries to convince me to give her the role later down the road then I would know for sure she was up to no good... |

This thread has been moved to Science & Industry.
I have also removed a rule breaking post and the one quoting it. The rules: 5. Trolling is prohibited.
Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote. To clarify and expand...
POS modules have their own VIEW, TAKE, and USE rights, located on the Manage > Structures > Access in the right-click on the control-tower menu. The default is VIEW = Starbase Fuel Technician, TAKE = Config Starbase Equipment, USE=Config Starbase Equipment; you will want to set these to Corporation or Alliance.
Next, every slot can be restricted to use by Corporation or Alliance members. Go to Science & Industry > Installations set your filter for: Activity = All, Location = Any, Range = Current Region, Type = Corporation, Prod. Category = All, Prod. Group = All. Then select a slot, and at the bottom right a button will appear: Manage Assembly Lines. Check Allow Corporation Member Usage and optionally Allow Alliance Member Usage. You have to do this for EVERY SLOT, but you can select multiple slots (hold down the SHIFT key for a single range, or CTRL key to pick and choose) before clicking on the Manage button.
Because these are outside of the corporation roles page, it is very common to forget to set them up. |

Thanks, you helped me to finally set up my POS correctly. CCP, please fix that whole UI mess and chose presets that make sense to the uninitiated. |
