keep looking to around 10min
now thats what I am talking about mining instead of just click a button and come back later
ccp you can learn from these guys a little bit
is this the direction you think CCP should develop mining ?
and yes we all know that in eve plenty of technologies are not implemented for this sort of gameplay, what if though??

No matter how nice you make mining look, and no matter how interactive you make it, there will always be people who will make bots to do it and find ways to go AFK.
Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

I dont argue that for sure, but thats not what I was referring too, press a button and walk away, i mean this in regards to ice mining for example!
cant stop the bots, no argument there, but for people that like immersion and well like mining "not me im a piwate", I can see the appeal if something like this is implemented or this direction!
so many other good ideas these guys have, there are good videos about scanning and finding stuff that are well a bit more interactive then we have for probes for example

I disagree that you can't stop botting. I don't recall anyone ever successfully botting the Loot Spew mechanic. Not posting on my main, and loving it.-á Because free speech.-á

Off the top of my head I can think of several relatively simple ways, most of which rely on image recognition. |

Yeah just modify one of the auto-target bots for another game.
Be tricky to program but only needs one person to do it the once and then all the script kiddies will have copies in a week. |

Going off topic - The way Limit Theory does it is pretty inventive, looks fun and very rewarding. Not all roids contain ore, you actually have to look for it.
Good excuse to make MASSIVE asteroid belts instead of the crumbles we have now.

INB4 feature is released and CCP forgets to put ore in the rocks.

I like their idea of mining. THIS IS HOW MINING SHOULD BE. This is the first time i've seen this game, but if this game goes live online, EVE will no longer dominate the space sim genre. |

as someone who mines, no. just no. leave mining the way it is. a lot of us like it just fine. that system would have to incurease the number of miners by a lot in order to still supply eve with the same amount of minerals as most of us miners have several accounts we mine with.
but lady you are in shadow cartel?>! how can you like mining?
well.. sure i can. everything isnt about heartpounding capital drops on the odd passing drake.. just most. |

But that whole issue of bots is separate I think to the intent of this thread.
My impression of the OP is that this thread is about improving gameplay, not decreasing competition or cheating.
Good gameplay for people doesn't have to be linked to the concept of reduced cheating. Those issues can be separate and tackled separately.
I don't mine, but if I did, I think I'd be more interested in it being interesting for me than in it being difficult to bot.

Why do you assume a different form of mining game would require the inclusion of loot spew?

How the **** did this thread end up here. This forum is for discussion on non-Eve related issues as per forum rule 2:
Quote:2. Unlike all other forums on the website, all posts here do not have to be related to EVE. In fact, they should not be related to EVE. The purpose of this forum is for all posts not related to EVE. This discussion is totally EvE related. It doesn't belong here at all.
ISDs over moderating again.
Nothing against the ISDs. They generally do a great job at volunteer wages and should be greatly appreciated. But some stupid moderation occurs at times too. eve-bazaar - Discount prices on ships and PLEX. Real savings to drive your ISK further. |

With the introduction of ghost sites CCP made a move away from the loot spew mechanic. Hopefully they get rid of it for all exploration at some point too. The biggest difference in mining between the current EvE mechanics and what it looks like Limit Theory will have is in relation to scanning asteroids for the high density deposits (aka, similar but not exactly the same as planet scanning in PI) and then first-person control of the mining laser to hit each deposit in turn, plus some cool graphics showing the change in ore density as the mining proceeds. That sort of interaction doesn't have to involve loot spew.
bang on!
take that video of fanfest when they tested tesselation and roids bumping into the turd, add the idea from that video a little bit, add system wide asteroid fields that have orbits around the parent star, maybe have a belt like between earth and mars with certain mins, as they "predicted" and made us salivate with ring mining, and add orb cloud!
look at this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBf1odVtlWk&list=UU4mchQbkE7ssZYXIgaY4PHg
for scanning!
combine the original video i posted with this one!
immagine the possibilities, of making mining more "realistic", fully immersed, miners and immagine also pirates and hunters going after said miners!
this would be so awesome
if you want to be lazy, you can continue mining the way it is now "reduced yielf" if you want max yield you go and look for veins of ores! maybe there reason there is more ore in a certain zone of the solarsystem is due to planets orbit having affected that part of the solarsystem in a way X Y Z !
the possibilities in eve are endless and it is a shame that they do not push the boundaries of what is possible!
FYI: i make it sound easy "just add" yeh its not like that, Im not a dreamer didnt say it would be easy to implement but oh so much glory! |
