You wont get anything in Central London for that amount but you should have some warning on what to expect
Looking at the google search i can say
Stay out of South East London unless you enjoy enrichment programmes. Im a 20 year peckham veteran
That Includes Peckham, Balham and the Elephant and Castle or Brixton.
In North London Hackney is should be avoided at all costs
Anywhere in Finchley is good. Its full of Jews which means its safe.
Apart from that much of North London is good
Get some advice on an area before you put down any money. There are a lot of Londoners here

As a foreigner and one whose google search on said programmes bear no apparent relation to your comment, what are these programs and why they should be avoided? Sheer curiosity Inner Sayings of BrujoLoco: http://eve-files.com/sig/brujoloco |

Stayed near Archway (North London) more than a decade ago, it wasn't a bad area. Camden is near too. Generally speaking, it's preferable to stay where you don't have to switch to multiple tube lines to get to work, so keep that mind. Tube rush hours is bad for switching.
Not sure about the rent nowadays, but the amount is probably good for Zones 3-5 of the London Underground. Don't bother with Zones 1-2, though sometimes you might get lucky.
P.S. If you Italians are particular about olive oils, then bring some from home. There was Greek guy I knew that brought big cans of olive oil from home because he couldn't stand the supermarket stuff. All I can say, his stuff is definitely superior :) English food is somewhat meh .. well, except maybe for the fish and chips :P |

You are not the only one. I'm not sure about what the poster is saying with that either, especially in light of it having to do with education, and not finding a place to live....that I can tell.
