Quick question as I just want verification on how this works.
I will be joining a corp shortly who has agreed to haul my ships and stuff out to their area as jump gates are involved and such. I know I have to create a contract with the individual but do I do a courier contract? Never done the courier contract before so just want to understand how its done...
Any input is GREATLY apppreciated. |

Let me guess....This person was part of an alliance known by the name: Goons?
Anyway, you just (most likely - by 99.9% certain) lost all your stuff you contracted as they will just steal it. I do hope you put on a collateral on the courier to be at least, but preferably more, then the value of the items.
To create a courier contract:
1. Select items 2. Right click > create contract 3. Select courier 4. Select private - put in name.
5. Confirm items / add or remove if needed 6. Fill in name of station of destination. 7. Fill in reward and COLLATERAL (VERY IMPORTANT: always use collateral, no matter what they say. And make sure it's more then the value the items). 8. And then finish it. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

I have not sent the contract yet but this information is very helpful :) I guess I have to look up the actual value of everything I have and then I can set it up :) Thanks! |

J'Poll's advice is solid.
FWIW, I don't use collateral with my corpmates, but their reputation kind of preceded them and I had done my homework before joining. No reputable hauler will balk at collateral, though they may give you some good-natured crap about it afterward. Especially if you are going with a corp you know little about, I would go with the collateral. |

Also, most null-sec stations can only be accessed by friends of the alliance holding sovereignty.
It is possible that the corp will complete the courier contract and then block you from accessing it and ask for ransom to release it. It is also possible that everything is legit. But especially goons are well known to scam players out of their assets with fake recruitment offers and "helpful" courier contracts.
Do your due diligence and research the corporation. Find out whether they have a reputation of recruitment scams. Make sure the person you are talking to is an official recruiter of the corp. If you aren't certain, consider to fly there in something small and useful (e.g. Interceptor, CovOp, Bomber) and play with them for a few days/weeks before bringing in the rest of your assets.
Another options is to sell your assets, give them a shopping list and buy what you need once you are there. You might have to pay some premium over high-sec prices. But in any case you will lose ships in null, so you'll have to buy from them often and that'll give you an idea how good they are at getting replacements to their corner.
Again, this might be totally legit and they are just being helpful. But this is EVE and you should be a bit paranoid before handing over all your assets to someone else. |

Even in Sov space there will be some type of a market. Ask about where the market is seeded and if you can fit some ships from there. If you can in fact fit some ships from one of their stations, leave your things behind and figure that out after you feel more comfortable with your new corp. Also, once you are there you can check contracts. You may not have to jump around the area to fit a ship at all. |

As stated above.
Do NOT ship all you have in null now (or ever).
Start small and cheap. Learn your corp / alliance and if they can be trusted. Ship a couple extra things in. Buy stuff on local market (or buy extra and have it shipped in).
But NEVER ship all you have in. A. You can be kicked from alliance / leave / what ever. The most likely result is being locked out from your assets. B. You can be kicked out of that system by an enemy. Same idea, you can't access your stuff anymore.
So always make sure that you have a Plan B, Plan C and preferably also a Plan D, just for when **** meets the inevitable fan at one point. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

You join a 0.0 corp by liquidating your highsec assets, and pod-jumping to their home. This requires being in the corp so you can set your medical clone there. You can buy whatever you need locally. You don't need to play solo to play without being scammed.
For what it's worth though, alliance logistics will rarely, if ever, allow you to set collateral on courier contracts. There's many reasons for this I won't go into, but the upshot is you need to trust them before using them.
As described, it is all-but certain your story is a scam attempt. "Do not touch anything unnecessarily. Beware of pretty girls in dance halls and parks who may be spies, as well as bicycles, revolvers, uniforms, arms, dead horses, and men lying on roads -- they are not there accidentally." -Soviet infantry manual, issued in the 1930 |

It never hurts to keep assets, and a jump clone, in highsec.
Nullsec has a fair amount of PVP downtime, during which you'll likely PVE. Doing so will get your security status very high - you can then podjump back to highsec and fix that problem. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=318489 - Proposal for a new type of tech 2 Destroyer If you want to mine in highsec, read www.minerbumping.com. |

This basically
If you are NOT sure you trust them:
1. Use collateral 2. Get expandable stuff shipped.
If you find out that you CAN trust them:
1. Ship what you want and without collateral. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Even if you trust them, use collateral (and pay the person moving stuff for you).
Betrayal is not the only risk when someone else hauls your stuff. Collateral makes them more dilligent.
It can be under 100% collateral if you trust the person, but at least go with 50%. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=318489 - Proposal for a new type of tech 2 Destroyer If you want to mine in highsec, read www.minerbumping.com. |

Also it never hurts to have a "fail safe" sitting in a high sec mission hub, in my case it's a fully fitted Domi that I haven't used for a long time; well not since I went to null and WH space. in null it's all too likely to lose everything if the station gets overrun, hence moving everything to null without a fail safe is a bad idea. Also you don't need to courier stuff anywhere, a few cheap ships and some ratting gear is all you need until you get the hang of it. Also if you alliance is up to anything on PvP front then I'm quite confident they can assemble a fleet to keep the space lanes clean long enough for your ratting BS to slip through the camps.
If even CVA's ragtag "oh this is pvp ?" -fleets can do it on "Misaba corridor" I'd expect your alliance to be able to do it as well. |
