Hi guys... another topic from me (sorry!)
Following on from the d/c problems I seem to keep having (topic here), I have started to notice that I semi-regularly get the 'Session change...' message and whenever I do, it results in a disconnect from the game, so I have to quit and restart.... Have spoken to a couple of friends who play the game and they have never had this happen (they use windows, I am on a mac).
Is this a known bug for mac users?
Thanks in advance! |

That doesn't really help. All I see there are a lot of people with similar issues, but no resolutions. I appreciate that it must be frustrating for more senior players if they have gone through the same answers several times over the months / years, but as this is a 'New Citizens' forum, it isn't that comforting to have someone reply with a link - i.e. basically telling you to stop bothering everyone and go fix it yourself.
I've only been playing for two weeks and am just about to decide whether to subscribe / how long for etc. but if I am going to continually run into problems and have people who are more experienced in the game unwilling to assist, then it seems like 'what's the point?'.
I don't want to complain, but for something that's going to cost close to -ú100 per year, I need to know that's it's going to work properly!

He is linking there, because you should POST any issues with the client there.
NCQA will not be of much help for you. It's meant for in game Q&A, not technical issues and work arounds. The dedicated forum part linked is made for those things. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Just saw you are on a trial...that doesn't help at all with the link. But other then that, people hanging around here generally focus more on the "gameplay" questions.
OK - thanks for letting me know... I was also given that link in my other topic (and was told that I couldn't post there yet), which is why I didn't make this new thread over there
Does seem a little strange that someone on a trial can't post in a tech support forum?!? Any reason for that? I can't fully confirm whether the game will work correctly or not before I have to pay for it...?!?!
Don't get me wrong - I understood why he was posting the link here and I do appreciate anyone taking the time to reply to one of my questions, but it's just a little frustrating to point someone to another page without any explanation why, especially when that person can't really make use of the forum.
As I said before, it is probably tiresome to have people asking the same questions over and over, but as a new player, there's nothing worse than having to try and sift through hundreds, if not thousands of threads to find what you need (and not knowing that when you do find something, whether it will actually help!). I'm all about learning stuff myself, but when it comes to fundamental things like the game actually running properly, I feel like it's time to ask someone 'in the know'

The reason why you cant post outside NCQA is explained in your other thread.
One option you can consider is just to sub for a single month. It doesnt cost much, you can try the game for extra 30 days and can post on all the forums and see if the issue can be resolved in time. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Thanks guys... Yes, that's the plan, I guess - one month sub and go from there.
When the game is working correctly, I am really enjoying it... Just hope technical difficulties don't begin to overwhelm the enjoyment
Thanks again for taking the time to reply! |

If you can't get help, file a petition. In-game or out.

Mac user here, happily been playing for about a year.
You get the occasional bug, or "feature" and they take slightly longer to get fixed than on windows (or so I believe, I have no windhoos, so I cannot really compare) but this is the case with every single game I know. The Mac is not the best, nor the most pupolar, gaming platform.
The main issues I have are when running two clients, this sometimes works great for a month or two, then ccp "fixes" something, or when I play long stretches at a time (just restart the client and everything speeds up again). Crashes on jumping or undocking (session change bugs) happen occasionally, but not regularly for me. If they do start to occur regularly , run the eve repair tool, if that does not work I find that these problems tend to disappear after a day or two. The latter case is very rare for me. |

Thanks for the post - that's helpful to know.
Actually, today I experienced no session change crashes at all; it's just the random disconnects driving me crazy! I played for approx. 3 hours and had to restart the game about 7 or 8 times. Every time I had no message to say that the connection had dropped, items and menus just stopped responding and I had to 'force quit' out of the game.
I had a connectivity tool running in the background the whole time and it recorded zero internet disconnects (it checks connection every few seconds), so I really don't understand what could be the problem here?! It's quite frustrating - especially when I'm in the middle of a low sec area / fighting someone!
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give guys |
