Some of these words used for system names must have meanings, even if it's in Icelandic
Some of the names of the new bloodlines are good but I think whoever decided on some names for groups may not have been quite up to date with global dialects. Take one particular Minmatar tribe for example, if you're Amarr and have a South London accent and often use 'f' instead of 'th' to start words, their name is more a description of what they will do to you if they catch you . Mine is a less coarse South London accent but my friend is typical Penge area and it was him that mentioned the tribe in his usual coarse dialect that made me laugh.
I wonder how many names there are in this game that, if said with certain dialects have another meaning in other languages.

I believe all the system and agent names were randomely generated using their own program.

Edited by: CrayC on 29/04/2006 22:32:38 MOST of the 0.0 names are randomly generated. However, as other posts indicate, not all are, some of them have really funny names if you pronounce them right. But as for the Empire names, some have resemblances or actual words/names.
One example is a long-time homesystem of my former corp, Sankkasen. Pronounced slightly like it is spelled, in danish it would mean "the sandbox", which ended up being the nickname internally. We were a corp with only a few non-danish players...

OSHT-A is even - delightfully - a chokepoint system, isn't it? Most appropriately named system in the game if so. |

I 100% refute your claim with this evidence. If that isn't enough, look at the corp logo, and think for a minute. -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

Being Icelandic I must say this...
Having beer involved is ok because beer is good, you will relax and your mind will open. But when u guys get together at CCP, drink beer together and name a system "Brundakur" is wrong! In icelandic it means "field of cum"
What where you doing at this moment :)

Some of the sys names have made me laugh but also very creative as well but im very sure the random Jovian machine wich made some of the sys names has been turned off for some names as beer % got higher in Devs Bloodstream :)
But Brundakur is by far my weirdest one hence HQ sys for my little corp for some time now lol -- Diplomacy is like saying "nice doggy" until u can find a bigger rock:)

We Finns have had a lot of laughs from various system, agent and constellation names. There's just too many examples to list right now but especially everything in Lonetrek seems to have a lot of those oddly familiar names.
