Hello, my name is Riverini. I have been an avid EVE Online player for over six years. I am mostly known for my role in running the largest dedicated EVE Online news site; EVE News 24. Many of you, whom I might have had the pleasure of flying with will know my passion for this game. With that, as of now I would like to announce my candidacy for CSM. I hope to show all of you my desire to see EVE grow beyond the current state of stagnation. Most importantly- to give back to this community and help it grow for all of us, including you.
EVE Online is a great game, but a game which at the moment needs change; a better focus on unfinished efforts and much needed new features. At the moment a good deal of the development time is spent on making changes to appeal to as many players as possible, regardless of how beneficial these changes could actually be to the game. Something which goes in detriment of more pressing game changes, changes which indeed are big steps that so far CCP Games have neglected to take.
Let me tell you about my platform, which many of my peers have branded as an ambitious one. Yet, I do strongly feel that GÇ£ambitionGÇ¥ is something which has always been lacking within the Council of Stellar Management.
Here are a few of the points on my platform:
- I will advise on the need for proper and long term conflict drivers, both in lawful (high security space) and in lawless space (low and null security). I feel the current and past CSM members have failed in this regard, and the current state of null warfare is proof of it.
- I believe static resources should allow for depletion and new riches should cycle throughout the galaxy. This would allow new professions to be born as a result of these new dynamics in our ever changing universe.
- I also have experienced first hand the awful state of an aged user experience which plagues (but is not limited to) industrial and corporate management affairs. This is something which affects more players than you can imagine. I will propose creative solutions to this issue - CCP Games is already aware of the need for proper iteration and simply advocating for this wonGÇÖt change anything as time have proven. This must change!
- Communicate with CCP Games on issues which matter! There has been tons of changes some of which have ranged from superficial to merely cosmetic. There is a long list of forgotten issues which players have delved their hearts and souls into, proposing viable and sound solutions to annoying in game problems.
- Serve as a much needed bridge between CCP Games and a once thriving third party content creation of our community.
- Provide meaningful feedback on the need to reshape the current state of null-sec affairs.
- Contribute greatly and communicate the need for focus toward in-game innovation, on why a clear and proper feature iteration for EVE Online needed.
- Great focus on a "from the ground up" approach of alliance resources income; advocating for an approach which benefits the GÇ£grunts first, leadership laterGÇ¥ approach.
- Generate a focus on active income sources over passive for alliances - this is something which is only talked about by powerbloc candidates during election time - makes you wonder why?
- Holding large areas of unused SOV should be made something strategically and economically undesirable for any alliance.
- Renting is a reality within the game, why donGÇÖt we provide the players with the proper tools to rent?
- Active PVE needs a refocus which should include social aspects and an actual sense of achievement beyond a wallet tick.
- Moving around EVE should not only be challenging, but also enjoyable at the same time - there are plenty of ideas. I believe, there should be pressing reasons to go to places in EVE Online, and a proper reward about the risks involved.
- DUST needs to be meaningful to the EVE Online player experience, advocating for a further integration is only a start.
- Super capital pilots should not be locked inside their ships, this not only affects individual player experience, but also make them less prone to take risks.
- The need for Incarna is a reality within EVE Online. I do see Incarna as an ill advised, missed opportunity for CCP Games to open the game to a new generation of EVE online players. An open minded CSM are needed to make sure CCP Games does not repeat their past mistakes.
If I am elected I will work toward the greater benefit of EVE Online as a game - providing a more open CSM which would go beyond a GÇ£circle of friends, acquaintances or a powerblocGÇÖs demands.GÇ¥ More importantly I want to be a voice for the players - a voice which would go both ways ensuring a much needed synergy between players and developers - for this reason, I'll be running for the ninth Council of Stella Management office.
I will be taking CSM related questions to the twitter hashtag #riveriniforcsm9 - which I will be responding in video form, hopefully this way you will get to know me and my platform better.

"Ambitious" isn't really the word I'd use for "wrap lofty language around promises for almost literally everything, and throw it against the wall and hope people buy it". This approach has been tried before, why don't you back it up with some actual ideas instead of flowery emptiness? To pick something at random

Elaborate! What kind of "creative solutions" would you offer? If "simply advocating for this won't change anything" what makes you think you'd be successful? Basically convince me that your trashtalking of virtualy everyone whose sat on, is running for or has run for csm is warranted. That you're the miracle baby you're making yourself out to be. |

Basically a move from the Propaganda Handbook. Truth: the game is not stagnating, in fact its the only constantly growing game. see: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/14/how-eve-online-still-thrives-10-years-later

If you believe what riverini is saying i suggest reading past csm minutes in the last few iterations to get a lesser one sided image.
riverini wrote: - Serve as a much needed bridge between CCP Games and a once thriving third party content creation of our community.
besides running a website that is mostly reusing content of other players riverini has no idea of the third party community, and is not involved in anything. his technical knowledge to cover the needs for 3rd party development for example is null. He has been on some of the third party channels over the years, and has made himself a target of ridicule. He is not speaking and can not speak for those people.
riverini wrote: If I am elected I will work toward the greater benefit of EVE Online as a game - providing a more open CSM which would go beyond a GÇ£circle of friends, acquaintances or a powerblocGÇÖs demands.GÇ¥ More importantly I want to be a voice for the players - a voice which would go both ways ensuring a much needed synergy between players and developers - for this reason, I'll be running for the ninth Council of Stella Management office.
I guess then this is not about promoting his website. And we should ignore that in the past he has been a destructive influence. He did publish articles on how-to-bot (use google/archive.org), and he did publish ccp internal documents (without giving ccp a chance to publish a statement alongside). And if you want to know anything about how he is communicating with people, make a few suggestions on improving his website and start a timer on how long it takes for you to be banned there.

Ah River in I
Owner of FOXnews24 or Copy/Pasta News24!
Welcome to the CSM race!
A few questions if you don't mind?
- Last year you promised to stop running Gelvon Goblin articles. Why are you still running them?
- What happened to all the Botting and RMT guides on your website?
- With your incredibly biased opinion. Why should I vote for someone who would fap at half a chance to **** over the CFC? To prove this during the Fountain War, I fed you every article (uknu...remember?) For a **** ton of ISK! Oh how you paid billions for FALSE INFORMATION and no fact checking!
- Since your site does nothing in the field of fact checking. How can the average voter be assured that you'd check facts on proposed changes? Instead of the "ZOMG this will screw over the CFC!" *fap fap fap fap fap fap*
- What's your stance that CCP might have dropped the Carbon code? I.E. Space Panties! |

riverini wrote:I am mostly known for my role in running the largest dedicated EVE Online news site; EVE News 24.
As the person who "runs" EVE News 24, what is your response to your sites accusations and defamation of your fellow CSM 9 candidate Jayne Fillon? It's a strong claim to accuse someone of violating the EULA, let alone running it on a site in which you have a role in the management of. This is especially true when it is clear no EULA/TOS violation took place, and it was simply the author making accusations against one of your competitors. Do you feel the need to run a retraction to show that there was unsubstantiated claims being made?
You also were allegedly pushing a "how to bot in EVE" guide on your website. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2804539#post2804539
What is your response that you promoted an act that openly violates EULA/TOS through your service?
Quote:Generate a focus on active income sources over passive for alliances - this is something which is only talked about by powerbloc candidates during election time - makes you wonder why?
I'm curious what you mean by this. It appears to be a slight against candidates from various powerblocs, which in of itself can be construed as rumor mongering. Do you feel that's at all acceptable for a candidate to do when seeking election? To spread libel and rumors about competitors? Given that your site ran a slanderous piece against a fellow CSM 9 candidate I feel your actions have spoken more loudly than your words, but I would like for you to clarify it.
On your EVE News 24 promotional article you commented
riverini wrote:Bob is a great guy who's work has been showing outstanding skills for someone of his age. The last time I checked, a 18yrs old ain't no kid, despite to what you might think. Actually you would be surprised by the maturity of some of the youngest EVE Online players - and Bob is a perfect example of this.
Change is good for any organization, and we are not exception.
You are no longer the Editor-in-Chief and chose Bobmon to take your place correct? If so, how does your claim that his work has been "showing outstanding skills" reflect upon you? As the aforementioned accusation of another CSM 9 candidate was not just an oversight messup, the lack of quality control on the person you vested such confidence in is evident. The plethora or spelling, grammar and even factually incorrect articles are plentiful. Do you feel your statement is still valid?
You also lost your past CSM 8 bid for election.
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=219271
Which you refrained from ever responding to questions raised. Do you feel that's appropriate for a candidate to do? Especially one who boasts that they are effective communicators?
riverini wrote:I will be taking CSM related questions to the twitter hashtag #riveriniforcsm9 - which I will be responding in video form, hopefully this way you will get to know me and my platform better.
Why are you not fielding questions from this thread? There are legitimate concerns and inquiries that take more than 140 characters, less than that when you actually include #riveriniforcsm9 in the tweet.
I have more questions but these are the more immediate ones I feel we, the community, who are asked to elect you deserve to know. LeeSsang. Never Forget. |

Two things...
First, why aren't you addressing questions on here? This is where most of the voting base will be seeing the info and conversations between the player base and CSM hopefuls. By addressing them in twitter only...alienating immediately anyone who doesn't have a twitter acct. Then only doing video reply where an active conversation between two parties cannot take place. You're essentially snubbing most of the player base. Which is kinda rude and ignorant.
I really hope that you reconsider this and be active within this thread and answer all questions. Regardless of how hard they are! Instead of preventing a good chunk of the people from asking you any questions. Then Cherry Picking questions anyone can toss your way, which can be fake Twitter accounts with questions designed to make yourself look better.
The other thing I was going to ask, but I won't. You said you'd only reply to twitter, and my questions have more then 140 characters in them.
I wish you luck in your campaign! New player experience, more highsec PvE missions, casual play, balance, counters to AFK cloaking, expanding the NEX store, and Power Projection.

Don't worry about an absentee candidate not responding in his own thread, worry about the fact he is ducking a challenge to debate the very issues he is so passionate about. Regardless if you think Riverini is right or wrong, its never a good sign when someone who wants a leadership position is afraid to be out in the front tackling issues that get raised.
Riverini hasn't taken the responsibility to address any critiques of his platform or respond to my challege, how can he be expected to be a good leader for the CSM? Dealing with disagreements and varying viewpoints is a mission critical requirement for being a successful leader and positive force in any community.
