Quote: LUMINAIRE GÇô Arcurio stood silent this evening as administration staff from Material Acquisition and the Ishukone Corporation unveiled a monument honoring lives lost one year ago today.
The structure, a 120 meter long, 6 meter high section of titanium diborite armor plating from the hull of the Leviathan class titan CN Shiigeru, standing on a solid base carved from granite sourced from the Kaalakiota mountain range - resides in District 24 of the city, the area in which former Caldari Navy Admiral Visera Yanala was born and raised.
After the monument was unveiled, a number of political figures including Ishukone CEO Mens Reppola, Gallente President Jacus Roden, and Federation Navy Grand Admiral Anteson Ranchel, took to the podium to offer moving tributes for casualties in a conflict that saw the largest deployment of armed forces by the State and Federal militaries since the end of the Caldari-Gallente war in YC12.
The unveiling ceremony ended with a two minute silence, and was brought to a close by the voice of Reppola, reciting the simple dedication message inscribed alongside the service numbers of every known military casualty of Operation Highlander from both the Federal and State armed forces in traditional Raata script.
In remembrance of those who gave their lives to ensure the well-being of those they swore an oath to protect. The citizens of Arcurio remain eternally grateful for your sacrifice.
March 22, YC115
To all those barking and howling about treason and the like, perhaps this news update will cool your heels.
I'm glad to see something like this done, and a better form or location could not have been chosen. My appreciation and thanks to both Ishukone and Material Acquisition for their efforts on Caldari Prime. The last year has seen no small amount of progress, largely in thanks to you and your work. I remember back when i fought at caldari prime, was a shitstorm on the surface, seeing that massive shell that was once a bad ass ship brought a tear to my eye
Plus it was a shame to see this beautiful planet tore to pieces, people think im insane and i have no fascination about nature, and beauty, but caldari prime is such a glorious place....i blame the federation
THERE I SAID IT .
But rest in piece people of caldari prime -gallentean and caldari, and possibly amarrian and minmatar |

A fitting and tasteful remembrance.
Not only does it honor the sacrifice of those who came before without recrimination, blame or bravado.
But it demonstrates a attainable commonality of purpose that if nurtured may bring and honorable peace.
Well done. GÇ£Here also are the heralds of his praise."

This is worthy... And long overdue. I'm glad somebody did this.
Simultaneously, I've never been embarrassed to be flying Kaalakiota colors before now. After seeing a thoroughly disgusting display of self-entitled foolishness from the entire corporation over what turned out to be a charitable event, I really wonder if we haven't become what we decry the Federation as being. |

Quote: Since footage of the convoy was released across the State in NugoeihuviGÇÖs midday news broadcast, reaction has ranged from muted disapproval to visible outrage from various organizations within the State, over IshukoneGÇÖs increasingly close cooperation with the Federal government.
A number of sources within the State have indicated that both Lai Dai and Kaalakiota have approached the Chief Executive Panel with concerns relating to IshukoneGÇÖs continued distancing from the rest of the big eight, their relations with the Federal Government, and their monopolistic hold on Caldari operations on Caldari Prime.
While many major corporations have remained reserved with their responses to the news, KaalakiotaGÇÖs press office conveyed the corporationGÇÖs disappointment over IshukoneGÇÖs lack of communication with the Chief Executive Panel since taking over administrative responsibility of the Caldari controlled areas on Caldari Prime.
Concerns and voicing disappointment is disgusting, yet excluding every other caldari from the opportunity to take part in this memorial event is somehow the gallant and necessary choice to do. Ruthlessness is the kindness of the wise. |

I, for one, am glad Ishukone decided to do this. The tribute was earned in blood, and needs to be immortalized, regardless of how many tears it wrings from those who believe their desires are more important than the lives lost. As I said elsewhere: this wasn't an event about megacorporations and governments. It was an event about the fallen. Who was there to see it opened is not really relevant, and any outrage over the lack of invitations would seem to me to be more about wounded ego than legitimate grievance.
Not everybody who wanted to go could have gone anyway. So let's just be grateful that it has been done, and don't try to turn what should be an occasion of respect into an occasion on which to invent a slight and become angry over it. May the Ancestors know and well regard the final sacrifice made by those who have given their lives in service to their people. And may this monument remind the living of the fact that they can give so much more.
That this is nothing but a bone of contention to some, an opportunity for them to advance their own voice, is childish... The fact that they defend it, is shameful. The fact that no shame is felt, is telling of the lack of character.
Take your bickering to where someone thinks you're important enough to matter, which is nowhere near this occasion. |

The level of absurdity is spiking right here, right now. You're collectively missing the point, instead trying to argue **** knows while conjuring shadows on the walls - and I'm the one being childish for pointing out that not including the vast majority of the Caldari, despite their participation, is not a very appreciated nor smart move.

I think, in your eagerness to respond, you may have overlooked an important word there.
My entire point was that -
1: the ceremony could not possibly have been open to all would-be attendees even if it had been announced well ahead of schedule. 2: That being the case, any guest list would have to be restricted. 3: The decision was, therefore, apparently made to keep it as small as possible so as to focus on the servicepersons being paid tribute to, rather than making it a who's-who of Federation celebrities and megacorporate executives which might have overshadowed the tribute itself. 4: That decision is, I think, entirely defensible. 5: It is, I think, much more dignified to celebrate this memorial's existence than to express outrage over the limited size of the guest list. A tribute to the fallen is the least appropriate place I can think of to turn into a political grudge-argument. Actually, we get it. Some of us might even agree with it if it wasn't so obvious you just want to hear yourself talk, and can't stand the fact that it turned out to be nothing.
What's being called childish is your sorry ass dragging this bullshit from the other thread, into here, where people are otherwise showing respect for the dead. Won't matter much to me from here. Block functions a great thing when you just have no further use for a source of extraneous data. |

I did indeed, but this hardly changes anything, as there are limits to any kind of event, which is why you have representatives. Someone went to great lengths to make sure that this doesn't happen, and so I'm indeed concerned, as this is hardly a way to relax tensions between the megacorporations or inside the society. Having worked diplomacy (which I'm sure you'll decree you must know better than I), I can safely say that the WORST way to voice concerns is to drunkenly shove them at people who already have no reason to give you the time of day, largely thanks to you and your CEO crapping over the semblance of respectability that Pieter alone maintains. This is a thread about a news item, not a public memorial event, so it must be allowed to discuss the contents, implications and share someone's own interpretations and opinions. The aforementioned absurdity gets showcased quite brilliantly here by calling me childish when resulting to insults, and wax about 'how I just want to hear yourself talk' when you plaster your opinion over pages after pages in this little echo chamber with your friends. I do get it that facing opposing opinions is tough. Must be. You can't let it go long enough to say a kind word for the dead, being too busy calling people out for being right about you...
On that note, congratulations to Ishukone for taking the initiative and doing something good with the talks they've got going. A promising start. |

I am certain Ishukone considers their actions a justified against every other Megacorporation in the State for the five years under the CPD and the former Executor. They are to be congratulated for their believed diplomatic victory, but all victories are fleeting, even if for now it might be said other CEP members are crippled by the pursuit of internal economic recoveries to respond in kind.
It does however remind me of the Proverb:
