thx sorry.. that headset is a personal video screen. the creator said that he is focusing on that and not VR. that particular headset will not be positional or motion tracking. |

This :) It's a very narrow FOV, and yes we are exclusive on the Rift on PC. - Senior Programmer on EVE: Valkyrie / @SiggiGG |

Can you comment if this is a timed condition or for all eternity to come? I'm a bit worried in here about this because of Facebook buying Rift. I mean they talk a lot how nothing changes but frankly - I do not buy that talk.
I was quite looking forward for Valkyrie and Rift but with Rift going to Facebook I'm not so sure anymore if I'm willing to buy that headset. Surely there are some other more open platforms coming along as well?
Also initially when I bought the collectors edition and cot that code for Templar fighter there was some talk how Valkyrie will be playable with just a 2D screen as well - is this intention still there or is it going to be only and only VR experience now? Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... *THWONK!* GOT the bastard. |

This :) It's a very narrow FOV, and yes we are exclusive on the Rift on PC. well, i would strongly suggest CCP to consider other VR headset, because your player base is NOT FAN AT ALL of Facebook (to stay polite), and your potential customer numbers just shrinked like crazy following the announcement.
i know that i am not considering the Oculus anymore, like probably many others (i got around 10 friends who canceled their preorders today, and rumors from others that it is not an isolate case).
this means that if valkyrie remains Oculus only, all those ppl will just forget it even exist along with the Oculus VR, plain and simple. |

valkyrie YES but Rift NO (under the present circumstances)
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/805968217/antvr-kit-all-in-one-universal-virtual-reality-kit reviews say its technically second to Rift but the multi-platform option makes it very interesting (and the shutter for a view outside)
probably CCP considers again ...

Exclusives aren't the best thing anymore; they don't sell hardware quite like they used to, and you are really shooting yourself in the foot by not opening it up on the PC since there's likely to be a lot more options down the line, and that fragmentation could be bad for growth of the game. if it remains closed. |

It's likely only for a limited time, because CCP has long term goals with the game and has it already set to come out on the PS3.
But, Oculus is probably paying handsomely for the exclusivity which is major in the development of the game.
It wouldn't be wise for CCP to try to negotiate out of that clause, as it would mean a significant hit to funding, regardless of the "facebook" stigma.
On top of that, we all know it'll be less than a week before people have cracked the game to run with other VR tech or even without VR at all.
This may not necessary mean cracking the game even, as oculus simulator apps will appear quickly.
Those kinds of people that would give a **** about Facebook owning Oculus Rift are generally not intelligent people. |

Exclusivity not selling hardware isn't CCPs problem as the hardware isn't CCPs product. Oculus Rift is paying GOOD money for exclusivity, as is Sony on the console side. Asking them to stop the exclusivity purely because of your whims could equate to asking them to cancel the project entirely.
Maybe if you did some real market analysis on timed exclusives related to new technology, you'd have a case, but right now you're just whining. |

For fucks sake what is it with people these days accusing any post that doesn't roll over and sing praises to the company as being a whine.
I am not whining, and I never said CCP should try to negotiate out of some contract. I am just pointing out that I don't think it is a good idea, and not selling hardware IS CCP's problem if their game only runs on that hardware. Their market share would be larger if it were on more devices just like DUST's market share would be larger if they had a PC version.
I am looking forward to this game, and am hoping it does well in the long term, and I don't think being locked to a single piece of hardware is good in the long term (as I said though if it's exclusive on launch only and gets opened up later on when more brands are on the shelf and shiny new toy syndrome has worn off for the rift, then it's probably not going to hurt the growth of and market for Valkyrie much) |
