So itGÇÖs not that the Rorqual is getting nerfed, itGÇÖs that the new Compression Array effectively does (under the new system) everything you can do with a Rorqual.
It doesnGÇÖt make the Rorqual completely worthless, just redundant for anything other than large mining boosts. Since RorqualGÇÖs, in general, never leave the shield bubble.
What really needs to happen here is the Rorqual needs to be given some additional benefits that either:
-Change the Ship so that it makes sense to deploy it outside the Shield Bubble, and risk it as part of a mobile mining fleet operation. -Give it additional bonuses beyond what the Compression Array has, so itGÇÖs still useful within a Shield Bubble
We need people to post to this thread to let CCP know that we have spent a lot of ISK and Training time to use a Rorqual and donGÇÖt want to see it kicked down the road to GÇ£maybeGÇ¥ be fixed at some later patch.

But, yeah, announcing that you plan on obsoleting a ship and have no plans to do anything different with it is a little rough.

so, this changes absolutely nothing then? hence, it's not getting nerfed at all and it's basically being completely untouched. |

well dont worry too much... we still have the rest of tech II to balance not to mention the rest of Pirate ships... then after all the polishing passes for that stuff then they will go after cap ships... so in reality we are talking about summer 2015 before cap ships are re-balanced.

why wait when we can start coming up with half baked ideas that are way out there...
i am thinking of a tech II industrial core that allows for better compression ratios... myabe even gas compression ( you know how Jupiter compresses hydrogen into a metal under emence pressure)
Also maybe a redesigned clone vat bay. Remove the maximum amount of clones or greatly increase the amount per bay up to 100 or something of that level.
oh and maybe even make capital mining drones that are similar to the size of a fighter but have the mining yield of a venture. There are no stupid Questions... just stupid people... Winter Expansion new ship request |

This.
While I put a lot of time into training and building my own Rorqual with just 4 accounts, it is nothing more than a glorified POS module. Baltec pointed out in a different thread why it shouldn't ever be allowed in high-sec, so the limitations on its usefulness are extreme. With the align time it has, you need scouts 2 systems out from your mining location if you even want to think about having it in a belt, but even then putting it in a belt is pretty much suicide. The only way in which it is viable takes so many corporation/alliance resources (defense ships, etc.) that the net isk income from an operation using the Rorqual pales in comparison to high-sec mining with just an Orca and some Mackinaws (going by isk generated per pilot involved).
Maybe someone can get more isk out of it deep in null-sec, but you still need people to fight off rats, etc. It's simply not cost effective to use a Rorqual, and newer ships along with changes to current items have made it obsolete. |

Just give it a native warp core strength of +4 and bubble immunity which wouldn't be totally out of line given the bonus the Venture receives.
It simply needs to be much harder to kill, and then it makes a lot more sense on the battlefield. They thought they could get away.-áNot today, it's not the way that this kid plays. |

Just out of curiosity, when they nerf something so hard like removing bpo's from the manufacturing line do they offer any way to compensate the time, cost or also in my case a years remap for the skills to train those things being removed?
I have read they are refunding the cost of the blueprints but what about the other things that should be considered like time taken researching them? |

Rorqual Siege Mode: it creates a low-grade jump portal through which ore can be launched through. Because it is a low-grade jump portal, it is not safe for organic or processed material (i.e. people, ships, modules, etc., tend to get their molecular structure "re-aligned" during transit.) Fuel costs are very low for this ore only portal.
Ore ejected from the exit point of the "ore portal" undergoes "loot spew". Thus, a mobile structure and PoS module that is a combination of "ore cyno," tractor beam, and cargo hold would be needed to "catch" the ore.
There you go. No more screwing around with magic compression. Instead we continue to use magic teleportation which is central to EVE and scifi in general. Because, let's be honest here, Nightcrawler is waaaaay cooler than Ant-Man.

This is just a reposting of my ideas: Quality of Life Wishlist for the Rorqual: 1. Lower the cycle time on Capital Tractor beams to that of a noctis small tractor beam's. Its doing the same thing for up to 255 miners. The Tractor beams need to be faster to pull cans in. The cycle time of the tractor beams is a hudge part of this.
2. Double the tractor speed of capital beams. I need to be able to pull in 20+ cans every 200 seconds. Right now that's not possible.
3. When sieged in a belt, Tractor cycle time is cut by 95%. Tractor speed is increased 1000%. Lets give some more incentive to be in the belt people.
4. The Rorqual needs to be more agile for someone to use it in a belt. It needs to align in 10 seconds or less.
5. The Rorqual needs to warp atleast as fast as the Orcha.
6. The ore bay needs to be double the size. Right now the Orcha comes to close to putting it to shame.
7. More sieged factory slots! This will make ice compression go faster!!! The ship requires 10, so give me 10 :)
8. Remove the ship maintenance bay requirement. Its archaic. As a industry character I spend more time helping corp mates with this ship hauling things from high sec to null, most are really bumed when I have to re-packaged rigged ships to get them out.
9. Unsiged the rorqual needs to have the same buff as the orca
10. The rorqual can run mining boosts while warping to the belt and back to the PoS.
11. Lower the siege time of the rorqual to that of the maraders (60 seconds) to make escape a realistic possibility. Cut heavy water fuel use accordingly, or even lower it since ice is not exactly cheap these days.
The most archaic thing on the ship is the ship maintenance bay restriction. It just flat out needs to go away. The orcha can haul rigged ships, why can't the rorqual??? Industry pilots spend alot of time doing stuff for other people, including hauling there stuff. It needs to be able to haul corp mates ships to, even battleships.
Summary: The rorqual is a very special ship and it deserves different views when it comes to balancing. Its non combat role should allow it to do things other ships can't.
Really out there ideas: 1. Industry Titan: Give it the boosting qualities of the rorqual, siege and all, but add a couple of things: -Make it be able to grab any can within its jump range by creating a space time continum around it, the can instantly apears in front of the Industry Titan. i.e System Wide tractoring. -Every 10 minutes, the industry titan can instant heal to full any industry ship within the same system with a directed beam of energy so powerful it can to bring a industry ship back from the brink of death. The beam hits with such ferocity the industry ship in the process is flung helplessly in the opisite direction at 27,000 metters a second. (efectivley a get out of jail free card every 10 minutes for industry ships). Efectively this is the opisie of what the doomsday device does, its used to save, not destroy. Restrict it to mining barges/exumers. -Ability to summon industry ships to it. This allows the miners to easily go where the rorqual goes. For balance maybe even restrict it to just mining barges and exumers. -rorqual can refine ore.
Also rorqual can "summon" miners to it would be cool. |
