Eve has reached several landmarks.
The one failure has been and remains the same. Expansion.
Capital ships with jump engines that can't go out into the universe and explore ? We need a cyno ship in order to jump into a system?
structures and equipment that was established but, then nerfed to limit their function because, eve can not expand.
Players that dedicated years and effort to move to the top of the eve universe and then what? Stagnate, sit around with nothing to do but, start training other alt pilots to get up the the same top level and then stop? What happens? You get board you move away from the game or you decide that today is a great day to die and launch into the biggest battle of nothingness there was and boom...75 titans distroyed..
Why, bordom?
We're stuck. We can't do what people should be able to do in any universe. I should be able to go into the universe and go anywhere, find the fuel I need and continue on and run into new things, people and even events.
Eve needs to be able to expand, People should be able to go several days, weeks or months into the universe and find their own, system to define, build and establish, moon mine, create sov and build their own bases. Then build the bridges that will enable to rest of the universe to reach you. That should be the direction eve was going.
That is the sandbox that everyone should be striving for, The same in worm hole space, Why can't we build a station in wh space? Why can't I build a jump gate from static universe into a wh?
Its the same old arguments like physics and mass and their real effects. In all the years since we still haven't addressed those original points. Do, people need to look elsewhere to find those answers?
This post is an effort for everyone in eve to look at the game today and find some way to impact it for the better for everyone else.
Eve needs to expand. The players need to be able to move beyond gates and into the rest of the universe and to build and create their own empires, or confederations or anything that is their fancy and CCP needs to be responsive to those needs or we are going to be watch the death of eve as we knew it.

Trully the exploration of outer space is a fine idea, but personally i believe we should first focus on taming the edges of space we have already discovered, yes there may be wonders beyond our wildest dreams, but what use is there of finding it, if we have to then risk flying in pirate infested space to get it back home. Finally if you want to play in a sandbox go to a gallantean pleasure planet. A capsuleer's life is no game... Unless it's being toyed with by others, an unhealthy pass time if you ask me. |

I came along and I wondered. Is this art? It's looking like some modern piece, reminds me of people talking over the world from an unusual perspective. Are you coming from the Vherokior School of Theatre and Writing? Interesting but well I don't understand. Where does this lead to?
Is it the critic on us capsuleers slowly leaving the grasps of humanity and the world of mortals behind? I'm not so good with theatre and that. I concentrated on music the last years. So please don't mind if I make a fool of myself and everybody else knows what this is about.
I have no idea. But it sounds nice. Please go on. Maybe I get it. Is there a bucket to donate isk for the artists? FREEDOM, PUNK & AUTOCANNONS |

wha...?
so null sec, an area that is mostly barren of players. needs to be expanded?
not convinced.
also not convinced EVE is dying. EVE FAQ "7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY?No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided""So it will be up to a pilot to remain vigilant wherever they may be flying and be ready for anything at any time" |

The features of exploration :
Jump drive technology should enable ships to go beyond "known" space.
Currently, the rules within gated space are defined and established for most everyone.
My idea, would be to enable those ships that have jump drives to load up their hulls with pos equipment, go out beyond gated space and explore said areas.
NPC's and pirates and everything else would be out there but, that's part of the experience as well. Most of the equipment has been "adjusted" when Alliances established jump gates to enable them to move mass numbers of ships within a short location also within a set amount of time.
Jump gates should be the mean's that wormhole space can establish a permanent location into "normal" space. Yet, its been nullified.
Stations should be able to be moved into a wormhole but, you can only establish a POS.
Space beyond the gated areas would open up space as Null sec was intended to do. Look at how many times that CCP has rewritten a rule or changed the game mechanics to try to push more and more players into Null Space.
But, with the mechanics the same for both areas the game will never be able to evolve.
Let, the big ships go out and explore beyond gated space, bring your pos and arrays and refineries and everything else with them and establish their own domains and sov space. Give people a chance to setup moon mining and their own sov space and build some infrastructure.
Setup a system in which a system has "x" amount of time to establish themselves before concord starts to send gate construction crews off in your direction. This would enable more people to get out into the Unknown and actually try to get things built up and sov established.
What exactly are these titans and Supers doing in game except waiting for the next big fight. Its more than time to make them the ultimate sov builders that they should be.
At least this idea would enable people to get out and go explore areas, that haven't been established by mega-alliances. It would give more options to everyone trying to build and setup industry in some out of the way area beyond everyone else. It would also enable people to do more things within their own area of space. Down the road, they may lose that area to an invasion from some other group but, these features would enable more industry and building in unexplored areas.
It should be the biggest ships because your also facing the unknown and that's another aspect of the game that could be addressed and enhanced, incursions by some pirate group, or some local group that no one's ever seen before.
Minning fleets that could go out within carriers and build their own minning operation and station and sov area for weeks or months or years before some other group finds them.
On the other hand, there could be massive fleets setup to try to scan down, and conquer these groups also making the game more interesting.
There are so many complaints by everyone about, industry, and carebear's , issues about T2 bpo's. Here is a way to establish opening up new areas within the game. Giving everyone a chance to go out and build an area for themselves or, risk being killed in space and re-emerging within the clone vat aboard your titan or your own station...if you were smart enough to have one build in time.
After 10 years the game has to evolve and change and some old issued need to be readdressed and corrected. This feature would enable sov structures to be important and relevant again. Industry and moon mining to matter, building to matter, since out in the middle of nowhere you can't jump to the nearest station and buy your minerals or ships or equipment anymore, now you have to make it all on your own or die. How can anyone not get excited about that vs the status quo that we've been in.... that is why I believe that this feature would enable the next 10 years of eve to thrive and keep the excitement level notched up to max!
That is why this post was in features and ideas we need it to be discussed vs the arguments that you usually get about null sec building and carebears and all that...this feature is the next evolution of eve and without I do believe that we could soon see the slow decline and eventual demise of the game. |

Expansion is meaningless, & worse than meaningless in that it actually creates more stagnation. because it will remove the limited reason the blue doughnut has to fight currently which is limited R64's.
We already have thousands of systems in New Eden, most of which have 4-5 places worth going in them at any one time. Expansion should happen inside the systems we already have creating significantly more content for active players inside the system, not passive content like PI & moon goo, but active content. A system should be a hub of activity if pilots want to use it, 20, 30, 40 pilots in a single system easily. (Ignoring mission agents here, but even they rarely get that many in a single system). If I warp into a system and scan, I should see 20+ places of interest at a minimum. (Note, this does not mean 20+ sigs of which 19 are WH's, it means places that actually matter for doing things inside the system)
Some of these may turn out to be worthless in terms of isk value, but 'Old Dangerous Battlefield' which I warp to might have some wrecks, it might also have a damaging nuclear acid cloud that erodes my hull, and drains my capacitor quickly, making it hard to tank. And it might vanish in 2 hours. But it's still something interesting & dynamic, assuming that you can get dynamic site creation to work so todays Old Battlefield is different from yesterdays & tomorrows. |

You limit the class of ships that can go beyond Gated space. That factor alone should appeal to everyone. Ok, you bring one of those ships in your carrier and that ship can be used in that lone system but, with no jump gates or jump bridges in the area, they are struck to docking inside a pos, station or carrier.
There are many people that would love to go out and establish their own system and setup the infrastructure to make it possible but, the only way to do that today in game is to belong to some alliance big enough to rent you an area of space and then build it up. Wouldn't being able to get in a carrier and go out beyond the gated systems be more exciting and enable smaller groups and individuals to get out there and setup their own equipment.
I think this feature would enable more people to do and try different things. but, also to expand and build the universe in their own personal way.
Cheers. |
