Today I've been listening to this nice little classic...
Smokie - Living next door to Alice
Do you think that the line about "and a big limousine disappeared" is a metaphor on how the guy begins to forget about Alice once that Sally enters herself? So... no affordable NEx store... no full-fledged Incarna... no new casual content... no new solo content... no new PvE content...-á

I am not in the jollyest of moods, and anyway I just stumbled across a nice rendering of this song:
Unknown - Rasti, rasti (from Savior OST)
That's some nostalgic Slovenian song, and nostalgic is pretty much how I feel about quiting EVE and stop bringing to life Ms. Fazmarai after 3 years.

Trio Los Panchos - Besame Mucho .... This song was the cause of a population boom down here back in the day
This makes me want to marry again ... Historia de un Amor ... Ah , El Amor!
And this for something more animated ... love the classics!

You won't like it and you won't get it, but, today I've been listening to this:
Mecano - Barco a Venus
When I was a child that song puzzled me like hell, later on I grew and learned of what drugs were and what is the theme of the song.
The refrain goes, roughly:
Stop it now, you know you never went to Venus on a boat; you want to float, yet you just sink and sink. |

That's some pretty retro stuff. Don't speak spanish but the tune is not bad at all.
Here is a singer we better keep an eye on. Kyla La Grange.

Yeah, pretty retro... 1983 nonetheless. The 80s were a good time for Pop in Spain, there was lots of garbage but also lots of creativeness and some really nice musicians and bands. |

I usually hate being a part of any mass movement, if even closely related. It really ticks me when people can guess where i am coming from, what i am thinking, just because i am voluntarily being a part of a herd.
But, WTH.

I used to like that song a lot as a little kid, I remember listening to it over and over again on a cassette I had, and indeed, back then the lyrics simply went over my innocent head, and I took them to be simply weird and whimsical. Quite poignant now, looking back at Nacho Cano's - and pretty much the whole lot of Spanish '80s music industry - infamous appetite for narcotics.
Speaking of which... just this weekend I was laying in bed trying to nurse a headache from the excesses I indulged in (not the usual nochevieja fiestas, but my own one-man party of weed and Civilization V, once family commitments had been taken care of), when the old lady living right below me decided it would be a swell idea to blast at full volume what seemed to be a compilation of Spanish '80s pop greatest hits.
And as annoying as that was given my predicament at that moment, and as dated as it may sound nowadays, I had to concede there was indeed an amazing amount of popular good songs, talent and creativity going on in this country back then. Whatever happened to that. |

If there was a single lesson i could pass to the next generation of listeners, would be this one: Good music is timeless. It's so true that, if it's timeless, then you can tell it indeed is good music. I have a very good musical memory and my brain is filled with great songs and themes as old as 600 years and as new as just months ago... over 3,000 I can identify, lots more i just would recall having lsiteend to them. Of course my tastes are personal so maybe most of what i deem good would be crap to most people, but, provided how young folks tend to flock on a certain style and never get out of it... they are missing a wealth of experiences and culture. |

That said, I remember in 1975-1976, seven or eight of us would gather in some park under a tree, late in the afternoon until well into the evening... somewhere in Germany. Good friends, boys and girls, two guitars, some cheap wine and some hash rolled up with Drum tobacco. We sat in a circle facing each other and would sing these songs, guitars strumming away and the girls singing the back up vocals. By the end of the evenings, we usually had another six or seven people join us. Some were friends, some were strangers.

Mecano, most of their songs were like national anthems to the parties I used to go when I was a teenager.
Fact is, Mecano, one of my long lasting loves in Music has been so influential to me, that I can recall with vivid details their songs for the simple fact I used to put their songs on the stereo every time I made love, danced, chatted or simply existed with my girlfriends when I was younger. They were and still are super popular in Latinamerica.
Everytime I listen to Mecano is like listening to an erotic love song. Takes me to a time of much less worries and the women I left behind as I grew older. Now all of them are gone, scattered to the winds, some dead, others married , with kids , divorced or their whereabouts completely unknown to me, yet I remember all of them as if it happened yesterday, when they were young and happy and everything was much much simpler, their beauty encapsulated in a perfect frame of good memories and sheer human love.
If there is something I regret, now that I am older, Is not having loved more women.
I'm still amazed at the power of music.
Like you and many others, Mecano is simply a whole chunk of our lives, an innocent time, a time that is no more and all we can do is remember as we gaze up to the sky and wander aimlessly within our minds.
