Assuming you meant alliance level tax and not literally tax returns.... I'd much rather they fixed everything else wrong with corporations and alliances first, and then they can work on making everything else super annoying. Can't shoot blues if you don't have any. Long Live NPSI. |

It wouldn't be that hard to implement, and it would be the kind of emergent gameplay people blog about, so why hasn't anyone done this yet?
EDIT: Since a lot of people don't get it, in the USA you have to file an income tax return with the IRS if you made any money during the year, and the IRS uses this to determine how much you owe them. So why doesn't a nullsec alliance set up their own equivalent and make members fill out tax forms to determine how much ISK they owe the alliance?
Uhm, because EVE is a game, not the USA.
Anyway, USA system is dumb. In Holland you automatically pay tax on your income and at the end of the year you can file for a tax return. Much better to get money back from the government then to pay them even more. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

My guess would be 'cause it'd be hard to get folks to join an alliance that does stupid stuff like the OP suggests. (Isn't this guy on the Pay Me Not To Think roll?) Dont fight it; Rejoin your Amarrian patriarchs; You know you want to. |

I use to be in a corp that charged a monthly fee based on your rank. New recruits paid 1 mil a month or something, regular members paid more, directors had a higher bracket, and the CEO had the highest bracket. That might be a good way to raise money for corp assets. It worked for the corp I was in.
However the idea of a 'tax return' to be in an alliance is not such a good idea. Such a regime requires a bureaucracy. Alliances barely have enough people who are willing and able and trustworthy enough to be fleet commanders or POS operators. You're not going to find anyone who wants to be a revenuer, least of all anyone who has experience being a revenuer in real life. |

If it's a US-based alliance, why doesn't CCP require it to spend 1.50 isk for every 1.00 of isk it receives? |

Because New Eden has no enormous bloated ridiculous unnecessary miltary to pay for.

But the US-based alliance could keep defense spending to 18% of its budget, and keep cutting. |

I have earlier today closed a thread on taxation in High Sec, I will now close this one on taxation in Null Sec. The reason being that this unenforceable proposal only leads to trolling, real life political references, etcetera.
