Thinking of doing 8/10 DED sites with a crow as my cyno pilot/scout and jumping a widow in to safely do the sights without getting caught in bubbles and gate camps, what do you think about this idea? |

Do you really want to become a warpable beacon on everybody's overview for ten minutes? It is not very covert, is it? |

I wouldn't recommend a Widow at all.
Poor DPS, poor tank, NPC's are extremely resilient and numerous for effective EWAR and you're a 2+ billion ISK target that people will make a lot of effort to catch.
Yeah, you could run 8/10 in a Black Ops BS, but the Sin and Panther are much better choices if you must.
Also, as mentioned, if you pop a cyno in your anomaly, anybody can warp to it, so you're losing the valuable time to spot probes scanning you down to get out.
Isotopes will eat into any ISK you earn from sites too as you'll need to keep fueling the BLOPS.
For avoiding gate camps and running anomolies whilst roaming 0.0 space, a T3 cruiser with a Mobile Depot on board can't be beat IMO. You can be nullified and cloaky for running gates and can refit to maximise tank and DPS to run sites.
The T3 can move freely, scan and fight all in a convenient package that takes way less time to skill into than all the jump skills and ancillary Battleship stuff for the Widow.

It's a workable idea OP. Just use a probing cov ops or even a probing, nullified t3 that can assist in the plex.
Find plex, light cov cyno, bring in blops, warp to plex, profit.
It's pretty much the safest way to run plexes imo.
And yes, the widow is a good choice if you have high missile skills and can use t2 cruise missiles. Just use a MJD fit and you have plenty of mids for tank. I'm not sure how these people that look down on the widow fit their ships or run plexes but it's the best blops for it in my opinion. I've tried all of them.
Redeemer, cap issues with tachs, tank issues with pulses.
Panther, really not as good dps (autocannons) as you expect as you will need to tank it. Artie fits are worse than widow with cruise.
Sin, probably equal best. Needs some drone mods to hit out at mjd range. Good dps. Can't keep moving like the widow as it needs to scoop its sentries.
Widow, mjd away, shoot cruises. Mjd to next gate.
Some plexes the blops fails at. Where ever there's a structure or officer that does huge dps or alpha but it may be workable. |
