Edited by: MysticNZ on 06/05/2006 11:09:47 Edited by: MysticNZ on 06/05/2006 11:08:38 Hi all,
I havenÆt played a lot lately, but this afternoon I got to fly with ERA and bust a gate camp in M-0. Most fun IÆve had in along time. Props for jumping in on us when we out numbered you, very little smack.
But thatÆs not the point of this post. The point of this post is that I would like more empire dwellers to get into 00. It is a totally different world.
People seem to get it wrong; you donÆt have to PVP to be in 00. Miners/Producers get just as much respect.
On the way back I ran into a gate camp where it was 7v1, I was tanked to hell thank god. Once I got home, I informed the alliance about the gate camp in which we proceeded to destroy their camp.
IMO, EVE was meant to be 00. Empire people have their place, but if you are itching to get into 00, please try it. You wonÆt regret it.
Edit: The reason I say this is because I use to only stay in empure/low sec until I finally tried piracy which bought me to a 00 alliance.
I would never go back :P

Agreed, 0.0 is the best move I've ever made in EVE. If you know what you are doing, then you can make lots of money, and live the "Empire" life, but with bigger rewards.
0.0 = Awesome!

if you look back a couple months ago you'll find a post about me saying why I won't go into 0.0 and rabble rabble rabble...
...anywho, I'm in 0.0 almost all the time, only going to empire to bring stuff to sell. Since I've done this it's like a whole new game.

I'll certainly move to 0.0 at some point, but currently I'm just stacking up on skills and resources in high-sec. Gotta get me some jump clones first too Be as it may, I'm not going there unprepared

Well it's the only way. I know it sucks, trust me.
But 00 alliances will kill you on sight (most of, not all).
This will leave you think WTF 00 SUCK0RS!!!!!!@!
Join a corp down there and go have some fun. Plenty of isk, plenty of pvp.
Corp should make everything for you, so you have no reason to goto empire ever again unless it's for some hard to get named stuff/t2. -=====-

More Empire pilots would go into 0.0 space if it were a more welcoming place. The majority of 0.0 inhabitants shoot first and talk later, if at all. Paranoia is the rule there.

All my eve life, I've been avoiding pvp. On the recieving end of a gank or a camp. I've learned how to hide and keep safe in 0.0 exceptionally well and find it a lot safer than empire due to the scarcity of players and the number of empire wars we have declared on us all the time in the ISS.
Recently, I have been pirated or caught by war targets or run into gatecamps but these times I've had a combat setup fitted on a combat vessel, my Thorax and my Dominix. And I've won. I've fought off attackers, I've caused some newer gatecampers to crap their pants and scatter, I've escorted a corpmate's hauler past enemies at a gate in my Dominix (and yes god damn, it works and it's awesome :D). I was chased and engaged recently by an enemy when in an NPCing setup and he only escaped destruction owing to my lack of a warp disruptor. It was an awesome fight.
It occured to me recently that I have been avoiding pvp for so long that I have had time to learn about it intimately and train up the relevant skills. I've avoided pvp for so long that I am suddenly not useless at it. The key is not to panic and not to give up. Of course, it's also important to never fly anything you can't afford to lose and to always expect to lose your ship. If you have a grand total of 300 million isk, don't go fighting in a HAC.

That's the key. Most people run as soon as they are being attacked. Just hold out, focus and pop those pods :P That is the only reason we won today IMO, because people didn't panic. -=====-

Been there done it.
If you enjoy it then fair enough, i don't enjoy the social crowd these days that frequent it, so i dont do.
Too much of the pwnd, killboards being all, and general haterd of fellow human beings.
Pretty much the way eve draws in parallel to the way counterstrike went, in the begining it was fun.... then the asshat culture sprang up... the more than a game crowd.....
Not my thing, but it used to be fun ______ Long ago one gorgeous night, we let the stars grow free. We let Zhuge do that once, he came back carrying a traffic cone, a forsale sign and three empty bottles of dutch lager. He also lost his Zimmer Frame... - Imaran

I found 0.0 a little boring, annoying and unrealistic.
I found the most excruciatingly difficult but funnest thing in EVE was to war declare corporations in empire, hunt them down until they paid a ransom. Really unprofitable but much more fun then grinding rats, asteroids, or gatecamps in 0.0.
EVE's got something for everyones taste. If your having just as much fun in empire, mining as someone else is in 0.0 fighting, then theres not much point in changing to 0.0 or empire for either person.

You may not care about killboards, MysticNZ. In that you'd be the exception. I spent a month in 0.0 and can confirm Galk's experience. There are a lot of dysfunctional people in 0.0 space.

I just enjoy isk and killing stuff. Both a plentiful in 00 (spelling).

The OP just gave us some descriptions of PvP activity to decorate his post, then strangely stated you don't have to PvP in 0.0. Well, you don't have to, no, but it's more likely to be forced on you.
Empire is a "richer" experience - in terms of number of players, markets, agents and various other opportunities. More like a community or large city. 0.0 is intensely parochial and that aspect of it I don't like at all.

I think it's great. BoB are flying around shooting anything that moves, local alliances shoot non-allied corps/alliances etc but what's great is when you don't do the same in return. I chat to people in local, be friendly with even the people who would kill me and generally be nice to people. The general rule of 0.0 "if it's not blue, kill it" only applies in a general context - I think you'll find a lot of people will break rank and ignore friendly locals when they show up neutral on the overview.
Empire, of course, while a little less personal since you have hundreds of people in a system going to and fro, is more social in that regard. This is why I really love low sec space. The fact that there's an associated risk with anything you do and making friends is a great way to survive while the number of people is low enough to remain social :).

The key to making it in 0.0 is to get to know your neighbors, preferably before you move down. Just the other day the local 0.0 residents got a little who-ride together to bust a gatecamp. I joined in with them, even though I was bbq'd, I took a whole lot from the experience. For most of my career i've been an industrial character, mining and building stuff. I lived in lowsec empire for a while to mine the good stuff (relative to the secure ores). In the region of lowsec i operated out of, the pirates were definitely the majority, but I learned all the techniques for evading hostiles and screening local that would save me numerous times in 0.0. While in empire i did feel a sense of community and fellowship with my fellow corpmates down there, we were just one corp in one system we mostly had to ourselves. In 0.0 we've gotten to know the neighbors, we got naps going, and we joined in on some of their pirate hunts. These hunts have by far been the most fun i've had in EVE in the nearly 7 months iv'e been playing. I finally got the sense of true community, that I was doing things not just for my loot collection or wallet. I've decided to halt my industrial training for a bit so I won't get bbq'd next time I go out. (It'll take a while.)
In summary: 0.0 has been the best thing to happen to my eve career and I would recommend the experience to as many people as possible. Groups like the ISS are making it easier than ever to get your foot in the door. Scout out a system, talk to the locals, and see if you too can't get in on the action. |

I agree! Like last night when I'm happily NPCing away in a belt and a solo LV scout jumps into system, warps into my belt and scrambles my solo Raven. 10 of his buddies jump into system as I target the Taranis, sic my heavy NOS and light drones on him and hope that I can either take him out or scare him off before they all warp in on me...
I break the tackle, warp to safety, and LV is denied a kill.
