Of course it's RMT! CCP is deliberately trying to make money! This game is just a brilliant way of milking if from us!
Capitalism! Woah! Conspiracy!!! Yeah, bastards. If they had an ounce of decency they'd introduce some way to let us play for free if we had enough ISK. Zappity's Adventures for a taste of lowsec. |

Capitalism! Woah! Conspiracy!!! Well, in all things considered, I could invest my RL money in getting myself an army of 10 mining alts, move to a quiet and stable space in nullsec, and steadily increase my RL profits with RMT to other players at discount prices, and steadily buying more mining alts. This is a pretty simple thing to consider. So simple in fact, who would be willing to bet at least 30 people ingame are doing this as we speak ? Hu?
I thought this was about CCP making money? Did I misinterpret the OP? |

Yeh
Also take into consideration how much access to your computer and internet this and other games are given.
EvE will essentially allow you to play for "free".
Now for the amount of free players compared to the amount subscribers, they can't be really making that much. That much where writing off a $26million dollar loss is something they can move past without much internal destruction.
They have to be getting their money from somewhere.
And it's from the internet itself. These "advertisement" companies buy up whatever data they can about you from whoever claims they have the information. Games like EvE? It's established, well known to have access to individuals computers. Sometimes names and addresses of the clients. These "advertisement" companies correlate the information from this game with other online stop/games/applications/programs we all use to compile comprehensive dossiers about each and all of us.
The entire internet is basically one big data/information farm. Except instead of creating, growing brand new information, it extracts it from us. Proof of lying in thread.

I find it interesting that the internet has made it possible to generate knowledge FROM knowledge, especially in an age of domain specialization which makes new knowledge more difficult to generate at an individual level.
Edit: yes, I probably spend too much time thinking about this sort of thing. Zappity's Adventures for a taste of lowsec. |

Divine Entervention wrote:EvE will essentially allow you to play for "free".
Now for the amount of free players compared to the amount subscribers, they can't be really making that much. All accounts are paid for in full (some costing more than others) GÇö if your subscription isn't being paid for, you can't play. So they can make a whole bunch of money and we can easily get a ballpark figure. Just multiply the number of subscribers (450k:ish) with the cost of a subscription ($15:ish) and you see how much they make in a month.
So don't worry about the whole GÇ£information extractionGÇ¥ thing GÇö with claims like yours, the information in there keeps getting cancelled out by all the wrongness. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥
