http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/new-player-training-sessions-pvp-track/
After reading the article I thought to myself, "What an awesome program to teach rookies the inns and outs of the basics of the environment."
......then I read the following last few lines of the article that proves the hidden agenda of the Dev's.
Finally, we will cap everything off by running a developer-led frigate fleet looking for death and destruction throughout the universe. These have been massively successful so far, seeing hundreds of new players experience their first taste of combat!
....Dev's leading rookies by the hundreds into combat means that a lot of DPS is going to be on the field and moving through systems like a death lull.
Which systems are going to be the "Testing Grounds?"
Regardless of these perceived training sessions lets call them what they really are. Thousands of new rookies being trained as pirates to effect the will of the Dev's on the Universe of New Eden itself. The Dev's are building their own hit squads.
This cannot be tolerated nor will it be allowed. |

CCPs last mass pvp event worked out so well, I have no concern that the next one will present a challenge to anyone, other than the poor suckers that try to be part of the dev led fleet.

Translation: CCP devs will be leading herds of sacrificial lambs to the slaughter in null, where their under-the-table buddies in nullsec will be conveniently tipped off and waiting to ambush them en masse. Nullsec in a Nutshell: http://nedroid.com/comics/2006-08-24-2155-arrrdino.gif |

i'll use some alts to put thousands of smartbomb rokhs up on contract so you camp all the gates in all the systems to prevent all the new players from roaming with all the devs in all of new eden.

Rather a conspiracy theory remain a conspiracy than to be proven true.
DevSwarm now that's an interesting thought.
I wonder if the Dev's are going to be roaming about with their rookies in Jovian ships such as the Eidolan or are they going to be piloting normal ships?

The devs have chosen that null sec as their target. The last live event was the model for future dev-driven events- and it targeted null sec.
I believe this is for three reasons;
1) null sec combat mechanics are simple. Not only is there no security status hit, but chances are you'll fight on a gate- and there are no gate guns to insta-pop newbs in fail fit frigates. Sec status alone means low sec is an unlikely target for CCP to lead a fleet.
2) high sec dwellers have an obsession with big, bad null sec. Half the forum posts on any given day amount to 'come on fellow care bears, lets get together and show those null sec guys a thing or two!' Which of course never happens. But it's an obvious demographic to tap into.
3) CCP knows that null sec will actually come out to fight, and not cry and whine about losses since we lose ships every day. High sec would shriek in horror if CCP ever led a combat fleet INTO high sec to kill the locals- but happily brings them out to null sec to shoot at us.
Of course, we saw how well that worked out for them last time...............
Null sec is the only real choice CCP has as to WHERE to fight. WHO is high sec care bears, since that's the only people in need of dev-led PvP fleets. The rest of us already fly PvP. The difference here is that CCP is officially taking the leadership role. In the last live event to null sec, CCP was unclear about what they were offering- most people thought it was a 'training' fleet with instruction along the way. It wasn't, and it ended up frustrating care bears who were expecting something different.
Just know that by it's nature, you're looking at a kitchen sink mess of random people probably flying the cheapest thing they could because they are only playing at PvP. Up against that will be highly experienced null sec pilots (we've been at constant war for a year now), flying tight doctrine fleets of purpose-fit, often rather shiny ships. in our own backyards (JB networks, easy reshipping, titans on call, capitals if need be), and always looking for someone to shoot.
A thousand newbs tried last time and died to a couple hundred of us who were also busy fighting each other. Even with better FC'ing, it'll still be slaughter. |
