No.
Options: Salvage them first Shoot the wrecks Move somewhere quieter Do unto others what they do unto you (ie go salvage other people's missions too) Accept that others can clean up your garbage and ignore them
Take your pick. |

How is it legal that others can clean up my garbage?
Saw today in 0.7 in front of a station a bc fighting an industrial ship..... blue and yellow wreck. Asked in Corp if I can salvage stuff and got as answer blue yes yellow not. But in the end i let it fly around in space. |

Just making sure you know the difference, salvage any wreck you want, don't 'Loot' unless it's White (to you) or Blue, or if your looking for a fight loot everything, which is what most guys are looking for anyways, a fight.

The answer you were given was wrong.
You can always salvage, white, yellow or blue you may legally salvage the wreck (run a salvaging module on it). The view here is that the floating remnants of the ship are essentially garbage and it's as legal for me to salvage a wreck you created as it is to pick up a coke can you dropped on the street.
What's not free to take is the items in the wreck (the loot). That you may only legally take from a white (yours) or blue (abandoned) wreck. If you take from a wreck which is yellow, you get suspect flagged and anyone can shoot at you.
Salvaging - always legal Looting - only white and blue

Salvaging is salvaging. Looting is looting.

If you keep your green safety on you won't be allowed to do anything to make you suspect.
Anyone can salvage a wreck. Salvage is free for all. The downside is you can only tractor wrecks if they belong to you. So this means you have to get within 6 km to salvage it. |

Yeah you're probably running missions in a popular (Translate Busy) hub, if you have the ability to use a different agent in a less popular hub that will fix the problem (For the most part).
The Ninja salvagers are less like Ninja and more like 'Nanny nanny boo boo you can't shoot me' because they know you're in a mission boat with huge range but no real PVP ability, salvaging your wrecks is just them trying to bait you into making a mistake and giving them the opportunity to get an easy and possibly expensive killmail.
But they usually just shoot your MTU to get your attention, so you might have one of the few legit salvagers left in EVE actually trying to make a living scrapping up a few million from wrecks.
Either way move to a less populated system and you will see a lot less of them, I didn't see one in over a year, then I just happily popped wrecks right when he got to 7500m from them, was kind of fun watching him run all over the field trying to get one wreck.

Welcome to Eve! The entire game is based on PVP and you're not immune from this in your mission pocket. Don't get too bent out of shape about the salvage... It's not that much ISK. If it bothers you so much use the agent finder to find a less crowded home. Just make sure it's not near lowsec because you'll end up declining missions taking you there.
If the pilot is just salvaging he won't be yellow flashy. Do not shoot him or CONCORD will pay you a visit.
If he is yellow flashy this means he's either stealing your loot or shooting your MTU. Do not shoot him in your PVE ship. You WILL die. If you want some PVP by all means come back in a frigate but since you're asking these questions I'll take a guess that you don't know much about PVP and you still WILL die.
I rarely have someone come into my mission pocket and I run missions a lot. If they are just salvaging I ignore them. If they go flashy I warp out since I don't want to accidently shoot them and lose my mission ship.

This. I think I've seen one ninja salvager in almost 2 years, and that was when I was racking up Sisters of EVE LP at one of only 3 highsec agents, so I was expecting it.
I just left the field to him, when I got back in a salvaging ship 3/4 of the wrecks were still there.
There's nothing requiring you to run missions in a busy system, there are agents scattered across the galaxy. |

Just blitz the missions faster and screw salvaging your wrecks. You'll make more money in the same amount of time if you do it right. |

theres a good chance that they don't actually want your mission salvage
what they really want is for you to get annoyed and shoot at them so they can blow you up in their pvp fitted ship docked in the nearby station
they could just gank you, but then concord or they can trick you into enabling shooting rights |

I tried to ninja salvage when I was a new player. I left the mini-profession because there was too much drama and death threats attached.
Leave them be if salvage is only a tiny part of your income.
PS - I was actually able to get myself poped while ninja salvaging. I got the aggro and things didn't go too well :D Singature Radius 48 m |

what ship does the guy come to your mission in?
A pair of ninja salvagers once tried this in one of my missions back when i used to run for soe out of osmon.
I didnt want to risk my machariel so i bookmarked each pocket
completed the mission an handed it in
switched into a coercer with a long point and mwd
warped back to the pocket.
One of the ninjas saw me, shat himself (i could smell this), and warped off. The other decided i was obviously still no threat.
as soon as he went suspect i pointed and blew him up. Got his pod too
Stupid thing was the guy had an mwd on his anathema and would have been much much faster than my coercer. But alas he didnt not activate it and so felt my fury.
Maybe the guy didnt expect me to actaully fight back so he thought he could take the **** i dont know. But maybe when people start taking the **** in your mission sites you should give them a good talking too as well.
EDIT: this will noly work if they are looting ur wrecks and get s suspect flag. If they are just salvaging ur wrecks u cant shoot them. |
