Hi.
I am confused as to why I should fly a Transport ship. It is so much cheaper to buy a Tayra and put a Microwarp drive and cloak on it and transport more goods than a crane, and it is just as safe because of Microwarpdrive and cloak glitch. It is also much easier to train for. I understand it can warp cloaked, but because I can warp without being locked that makes no difference.I Can't be locked and killed while in warp.
So where is the incentive to train and spend the isk on transport ships? They need something more than a Tayra with microwarpdrive and cloak can provide.
Make them invulnerable to bubbles like interceptors? Or give them a jump drive?

Deep space Transports have +2 warp core. In other words, it takes at least 3 points to stop you. + they have a lot of tank and are way faster then your T1. Deep space Transports can NOT warp cloaked. That is a Blockade Runner. Blockade runners are a LOT faster then your t1 version, and can fit a covert ops cloak. They are better then the t1s already. |

You're right, there isn't one really since the T1 rebalance. Hopefully the Wreathe et al have demonstrated the direction of the new blockade runners - decent tank, quick, nimble and most importantly can easily carry over 10k.
Tbh if they get that upgrade they don't need much more, Covops is still a useful upgrade given it hides your approach from gates and its pretty hard to accidentally oh dear.
The DST need help though, hopefully something useful like viable Cargo and Speciality bays in one with a fuckoff tank or something. We'll see Travelling at the speed of love. |

They are extremely useful if you live in low sec. Warp stabbed Occators are hard to catch and cloaky Cranes are nigh impossible without a proper setup in advance. Things are only impossible until they are not. |

I have never been caught in low sec in a mwd cloak tayra, so how is that any different.

Because you don't need any special MWD-Cloak trick to be safe. Things are only impossible until they are not. |

The big advantage of Blockade Runner class transports is that they can use Covert Jump Bridges.
- Light covert cyno in lowsec or nullsec safespot
- Open covert jump bridge from black ops battleship sitting pretty in hisec
- Jump through 50 Blockade runners full of supplies

It's not special, it's simple click 2 buttons. and costs 110m isk less to do.
Covert cyno is not much of an advantage with one high slot on 3 of 4 ships.

You've never black ops bridged a transport of special cargo? Things are only impossible until they are not. |

Yes, but that requires 3 pilots, and over 1b isk worth of assets not to mention the many months training time.
mwd cloak tayra is perhaps 6m isk with some warp core stabs and can train it in no time at all. |

Then stick with your Tayra since it is perfect in every way for you. Things are only impossible until they are not. |

Glad to see the point way straight over your head. How's the atmosphere down there? |

No, it's gone over your head.
No matter if you use the MWD trick or not, the cloaky haulers are still safer than the t1 variants.
They also have bridging abilities.
The non cloaky ones have 2 built in warp stabs.
These are distinct advantages you are ignoring. You are failing to acknowledge the benefits of the T2 hulls. These are really useful advantages if you know how to use them, and trust me being able to warp cloaked is a might better than the cloak MWD trick. Things are only impossible until they are not. |

Crane is superior. The ability to cloak and warp is worth the ISK alone. The align time is just icing on the proverbial cake. The speed is like pudding in between layers. The lower cargo hold is like realizing it was a frozen cake the whole time. |

Looting a semi-hostile battlefield in low-sec and null-sec is something that only a Tech 2 Transport can safely do... specifically the Blockade Runners.
Also
- Blockade Runners can warp almost as fast as an interceptor... which makes moving small, but significant amounts of cargo a breeze over long distances
- being able to stay cloaked all the time means that smartbombing camps can't "prepare" for when you exit warp.
- having to only click "warp" and "cloak" significantly cuts down on the odds of "Murphy's Law" coming up.
- being able to move and warp cloaked makes navigating bubbles in null-sec be less "death on contact" and more "JINK! JINK! FIND A WAY AROUND!" Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

I'm not sure how the rebalance changed things, as I haven't played with fits since then. But the big issue in the past is that for their mass, a T1 industrial really needed a 10mn MWD in order to effectively MWD cloak trick reliably. And none of them had the PG to fit one.
On the other hand a DST can fit one and a meta cloak and MWD cloak tricks just fine, while having the added +2 WCS built in. |
