So whenever the idea of pay to win stuff is promoted somewhere in eve, there is a large ratio of people against the idea.
What do you feel about something like a booster, implant, ship, etc. that would be deliberating to the owner like -1 attribute implants being sold for Aurum? |

I read a short story a while back about a society that was so engaged by the idea of equality, that anyone who was deemed too smart or too anything, would receive an implant or device that would bring them back down to average levels in some fashion.
Unrelated story, but that's what it reminded me of. |

Harrison Bergeron was the name of the story.
They had to wear handicaps because if anyone "won" over someone else it was deemed unfair and illegal by their constitution. Reminds me of some of the ideas posted on this forum actually Things are only impossible until they are not. |

I have a monocle on just about every toon except for this one. I don't get to show my classiness on the forums and don't get the right to call other people like you plebs. Honor is a fools prize. Glory is of no use to the dead.

You can always just fly with an Alpha clone :D
To be honest, features and servers that make things more challenging have always been popular amongst my gaming group. In IL2 we often flew what were regarded as "crap planes" against the younger big ego types in their late war hotrods and flew virtual wars as "DiD" (dead is dead, if you die in game you start over again). Back in the day when NwN online was a big thing we also played that "DiD" and often managed to max level our characters without ever dieing whilst still taking on all comers in PvP. We regularly played on a server called "Richterm Difficult" that had double damage from NPCs halved loot drops and a huge cash payment required at a temple to level up.
My observation of EVE though is it is pretty much the other way around. Yes some people do go on lowsec or nullsec roams in crap ships picking fights and other people will deliberately do PvE stuff in unsuitable ships (missioning in a Venture for example) but the norm in EVE seems to be contrive a situation where you "outgun and outclass" the opposition (even better if they cannot shoot back at all) and pad up your km list. |

Unrelated story, but that's what it reminded me of. Wasnt that the story where they were watching TV and the dude doing ballet was wearing a metric junkyard of ****, then tore it all off to be super badass amazing, then got shot for it?
I seem to remember that short story in a science textbook from elementary school, that was over a freakin decade ago :/ |

I don't care about OP but that short story few of you mentioned sounds interesting. I needed to google it (kudos to masternerdguy for a ttile) just to find out it is good old Vonnegut. I guess it is library time. I am not my skills but... http://eveboard.com/pilot/Schmata_Bastanold |
