"Floating" and idea out there for general discussion. What about having something similar to depth charges that would uncloak and create a beacon for the last known position. It could do damage or not, but the submarine similarities (torpedoes) to bombers made me wonder about extending the combat metaphor.

We have depth charges, we call them rohks and abbadons. Depth charges don't tell you where the sub is. |

Incorrect sonar and later more advanced listening devices were used to detect the "report" from a depth charge that "pinged" off the hull of a submerged submarine. |

The fact that we are "flying" bubbles (sig radius) in a fluid dynamics simulator isn't close enough for you? |

since the would be AOE weapons they would only work in 0.0 and wh's ... 2/4 areas isn't the solution to AFK cloaking
but not the worst idea .. it would at least force some cloaking ships too stay off grid or move around a lot Tech 3's need to be multi role ships not cruiser hulls with battleship tank and insane resists ABC's are clearly T2 in all but name.. remove drone assist mechanic. Nerf web strength ..... module tiercide FTW role based instead of tiers please. |

Depth charges were never really meant to detect submarines, they were used to destroy them. The hope was that the sub would be close enough to the pressure wave to be crippled or destroyed.
As for EVE, this is just another AFK-cloak whine thread. Things are only impossible until they are not. |

The fact that we are "flying" bubbles (sig radius) in a fluid dynamics simulator isn't close enough for you? explain to how today, in modern naval warfare, you can web a person, scramble them, warp off, smartbomb (as in Eve type), armor rep, sheild anything, MWD afterburner, etc. etc. the list just goes on.
So no, just flying bubbles isn't close enough for me.
Also, no report (of any kind) from a cloaked ship in space, how would that work? |

To counter afk campers there would be some form of deployable EMP Pulse. When set off strips all ships not a station, outpost or POS of any cloaking and all their shields. This would given the majority in the system time to scan down the offending camper and eliminate them if they are truly afk, of course if they are not then they will have to move and be at a inconvenience as no shields and a deactivated cloak make things harder till they come back online with people hunting them down.
A significant set up and activation time would be required on the device. |

Wait why are shields suddenly op now? Is my shield tanked ibis really THAT scary? You are in a thread that equates being away from your keyboard as OP while paranoid pilots tremble in fear that you are secretly watching them.

Electro Magnetic Pulse.
Its also likely lockout other thing for a given time but those shields are suspectible to EM right out of the door. And of course if your not actually afk its less of a issue anyway. |
