Final year art students at the University of Caille School of Art regularly come up with a wide variety of artworks, some traditional, some modern. One thing they have in common is that they are almost always controversial.
A sculpture piece by one student, giving her name as "Yvitte" has provoked a strong reaction from both the public and critics.
The artwork, titled "Disappointment 1, the sigh of the common people" consists of an empty plinth.
"I was looking at the artworks at the exhibition, and there was this one called "disappointment" and there was nothing there." said one exotic dance student. "It was so disappointing", said her friend, another exotic dance student. "That's the point, isn't it? It's one of those pretentious 'meta-art' things?", said a third exotic dance student. "Art students are all pretentious", said a fourth exotic dance student.
"This is a marvellous piece of meta-art" said one critic. "The artist will surely go on to great heights in meta-art sculpture" "The disappointment of the common people is palpable", said another critic. "You can see the look in their eyes when they interact with the piece. It's fabulous"
"This is racist, and an insult to immigrant citizens", said a political campaigner. "Hard working families come to the Federation to benefit from our superior culture, and this is how they are treated? Outrageous"
Causing further controversy, was the artworks companion piece, titled "Disappointment 2, the rage of the critic", consisting of a nude figure of a gallente woman, tearing an art critic magazine in half. The piece is interactive, as when the viewer approaches it, a drone asks the viewer which art review magazine is their favourite, the answer causes the piece to morph, altering the title of the magazine that the figure is tearing in half.
"Ha, that'll show those critics with their 'meta art' nonsense", said an exotic dance student "Umm, why are statues always like, nude?", said another. "That's like, our thing" "I think it's a self-portrait", said a third exotic dance student.
"This is an outrage!" said an art critic. "I chose my own publication, naturally, and this is how I am treated?"
The artist Yvitte had this to say "The art speaks for itself"

As one who grew up near Caille I know for a fact that there are people studying countless disciplines at the university. Why were only exotic dance students interviewed? Is this an attempt to make the Federation look decadent and the U of Caille appear frivolous? When the world is running down, you make the best of what's still around. |

I think they said in a recent article that exotic dancers are generally a lot more forthcoming with opinions than other citizens.
I don't think you can make the Federation look any more decadent than it is usually portrayed in non-Gallente propaganda.

Woe to all who produce incomprehensible abstract art! For they shall stand before God at the Judgement where shall be demanded of them an explanation of their artwork in minute detail with emphasis on how the artwork glorifies God. And when it be judged that the incomprehensible abstract art does not glorify God, the artists shall be consigned to the Pit where for all eternity they shall be forced to produce non-abstract, realist art at the direction of the Demons, Demons who shall brutally punish them for the slightest error in form, dimension, or color. And God will be glorified in the punishment. Amen. Amarr Victor. |

A lot of students at the University of Caille want to go on and do PhDs. They really don't want to have to deal with having been mentioned in a Gutter Press article come up in a peer review a decade down the line. Mane 614

Well, the University of Caille certainly does have more functional courses with a wider range of applications, graduates of which are in higher demand among a larger spectrum of jobs, but I wouldn't wish to imply that there's no use for a bachelors degree in Art.

Heretic, eight exotic dance students are mentioned in the article, only one is specifically identified as being female (in referencing "her" friend). Who's the ...ummm however it's spelled.... now?

Depending on your school of thought , art can either mirror life or illuminate it. Personally I find a blend of the two is closer to the colours on my wall, and if I sometimes take the time to scrape the s*** and detritus from it, I even surprise myself what is there. I don't find gaudy pink or battlecruiser grey, it's a chiaroscuro of mauve, crimson, black and purple, splashes of blue and deep indigo and an occasional spattering of white with tangerine highlights. I could go on, and it may not be everyone's personal taste but they're my colours. Exotic dancers are similar in a way, different from their traditionalist counterparts in that the dance is never always the same - and I find that intriguing.
I have to agree with another on this thread about the misogynistic undercurrents implied about exotic dancers. All I can say to those who think a dance is bacteria in a petri dish under a microscope is a bit of gutter - Go shove your pipe and smoke it.

God has given all Pleasure Hub workers over to destruction. Including Exotic Dancers. Exotic dancers of BOTH genders, for a holy and righteous God sees the sins of Male Exotic Dancers no less worthy of punishment than the sins of Female Exotic Dancers.
And so when I have destroyed Pleasure Hubs and sacrificed all their workers unto a holy and righteous God, I have sacrificed both Male Exotic Dancers and Female Exotic Dancers and taken their blood. And all who hear these words should do the same. Amen. Amarr Victor.

Yeah, like, a degree in Exotic Dance is like, totally as academically rigorous as like, a degree in something like Mechanical Engineering, because like, I should know, I have both.
People totally assume that all there is to exotic dance is like, taking clothes off to music.
There's totally a whole lot more. History, theory, applications to different cultures, all that.
