Could someone explain the reason for primary "Materials" being added to "Extra Materials" on blue prints?
If a ship needs 2000 Zydrine as a material, and 34 Zydrine as an extra material... would it not stand to reason that the total of 2034 simply be noted in "materials"?
I like the addition of some PI component, or T2 component for certain ships or equipment. Seems that "Extra Materials" is the place for those items.
how ever including basic minerals (for T1 manufacture) and basic T2 components (for T2 manufacture) in both "Materials" and "Extra Materials" just seems redundant...
just give me the totals for my skill level... that's all that really matters. |

"Extra Materials" exist because most of the people playing EVE are exploitative assholes who will not hesitate to capitalize upon potentially game-breaking changes to ship construction costs in order to line their own pockets at everyone else's expense.
CCP is moving (very slowly) towards being able to remove "extra materials" from blueprints, but we aren't really there yet. |

I don't understand, what your problem is. Acutally, you are able to produce some items without ANY traning.
If a BPC has "extra materials" only, you don't have to train Material Efficiency. |

sorry if I didn't explain it.
just didn't understand why the same material was broken into two parts (that need to be added together again) for ship builds.
now I understand that some kind of "leveling" was/is to happen and that certain nefarious individuals were attempting to build ships today... that could then be reprocessed in the future for + minerals.
seemed to be just added difficulty as you have to add both the "Materials" and the "Extra Materials" together to get the total build requirements. |

Before the current ship rebalancing started many years ago, ships didn't have "Extra Materials". CCP increased the amount of materials that some ships required in order to better reflect their new power level. This means that people would have been able to, as you correctly figured out, buy up a ton of ships from the market and wait until the change had been made before reprocessing them all to gain astonishing amounts of free minerals.
This would have had a very ... shall we say "bad" effect on the market (in addition to just smelling too much like exploitation) and so it had to be prevented. Unfortunately, it had the side-effect of making Material Efficiency Research somewhat useless on the affected blueprints (much to the ire of manufacturers almost everywhere).
Fortunately, those days should be ending sooner rather than later and we can go back to a manufacturing system in EVE that does not have its pants firmly affixed to its head. |

Erm. This is going to sound harsh -- and maybe it is -- but if really basic math isn't your bag then production might not be the best path to go down. |

I don't get why CCP aren't gradually moving the mins from extra to base. Would make much more sense as far as I'm concerned.....
then they could bleed the extra mins out VERRY SLOOOOOOOWWWWWWLLLYYYYYY For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be. |
