Greetings ,
Sorry first , i didn¦t found a topic where this Skill has been discussed in the past so i want to start a new one :)
I had a small discussion with my Corp Colleagues abut this Skill , someone say¦s its Crap , but i think it¦s usefull while using Larger Missile Systems against Smaller Targets.
The Skill description tell¦s us :
"Proficiency at optimizing a missile's flight path to negate the effects of a target's speed upon the explosion's impact. 10% decrease per level in factor of target's velocity for all missiles."
And show a "explosion velocity bonus 10 %"
From my Point of View , each Missile System has a own explosion velocity : Small explosion velocity 1750 m/sec Heavy explosion velocity 750 m/sec Torpedo explosion velocity 250 m/sec Cruise explosion velocity 500 m/sec
and also each has her own explosions radius
Small : explosion radius 50 m Heavy : explosion radius 125 m Torpedo : explosion radius 400 m Cruise : explosion radius 300 m
So ... the Small Missiles has the fastest explosions velocity but also the smallest radius , that¦s why it does so mutch damage to Small Ships : The Ships can¦t fly away or Maneuver around/thrue the Explosion .
Where Small and Heavy Missiles still filling theyr Exposion Radius within 1 nearly instant , the Torpedo nearly need¦s 2 Seconds to fill his Explosion Radius.
What you Guy¦s/Ladies think about my understantment of this Skill , and what you think about this Skill ?

You could use the *new* missile part of the player guide to the left to see what that skill does as the devs understand it. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

"Explosion Radius" is a poorly named attribute. Don't think of a literal area of effect explosion. All you need to know is that you compare Explosion Radius to your targets Signature Radius; if the explosion radius is equal or smaller, it will not lose any damage based on the targets signature radius. If the explosion radius is larger, then you start losing max damage.
"Explosion Velocity" is just compared straight up against the target's current velocity. The target's volicty is greater than the explision velocity, damage is reduced.
The skill is of somewhat limited use because the target using needs to be running a MWD to be fast enough to make a difference. But sometimes it helps, for example when firing a Cruise Missiles (normally 500m/s) at a faster Thorax (1000+m/s on MWD). Also nice when firing missiles at Interceptors. Training the skill to level III won't take you long, so you may as well do it.

All i know is i have it at level 5..... anything that makes my missiles hit better is a skill i am going to spend time on. Speed is a big issue for missiles and i want as much explosion velocity as i can get.

Absolutely right. If you want to use missiles well, train it to level 4. If you want to specialise, train it to Lv5. There's no bones about it :D -- Interseted in skills? Necessary Skills
