Hi
I hope you can help me
I watch Twich TV on occasion and was thinking of coming back to eve
however i dont understand why a cardgame (deleted.com) can get 11K viewers and a great game like eve gets less than 100 viewers ?
there is so much politics and great action in eve but no twitch content ?
thanks

Playing EVE is great fun. Watching other people play it is just stupid, in my opinion. And apparently many others opinions as well as can be seen from the streams lack of viewers.
Mr Epeen There are 86,400 seconds in a day. You just saved one of them by typing 'u' instead of 'you'.-á Congratulations, dumbass! |

No one wants to stream the truly interesting aspects of EvE because of the very real possibility of watchers choosing to use the information they provide them through streaming to exploit their vulnerabilities.
This means the only real stream possible material EvE players can provide without just throwing their isk and ships away amounts to mining and high sec missioning.
Which, IMO, isn't very fun. Proof of lying in thread.

Because the actual gameplay you see isn't particularly compelling unless you're the one who has to interpret and react to in real-time. The politics and meta-game that leads up to those dull moments isn't really twitch:able to begin with. The alliance tourney is awesome to watch on twitch and garners quite a following. Other than that, Eve is pretty slow and methodical. Not really edge of the seat viewing to watch a guy unsuccessfully stalk a ratter for 2 hours or some 10% TIDI blobfest that goes on for 20 hours. ... |

This.
Twitch viewers are there for instant gratification, which with very few exceptions is not compatible with EVE Online. "Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws."

Twitch is a fickle place, they don't like pinball either, but Minecraft or Pokemon and they all go nuts. |

Skip to the 53 minute mark.
This is why most (smart)people don't stream Eve.

Streaming EVE is dumb. Much smarter to record the fleet and upload it to YouTube afterwards. Things are only impossible until they are not. |

For sure. Not least because watching dipshits play station games for an hour is really ******* boring.

I tried to stream some highsec ganking on Twitch - ended up in watchers warning my targets of my intentions and losing kills due to it. Some of the viewers even took it to fly over where I was at and try to kill me - got some laughs on the stream for that.
Nevertheless, it was decent fun, was hovering around 50 viewers if I recall correctly. I'd have to hide parts of the stream if I wanted to make it work, which in turn makes it that much more boring for the viewers.
I just feel eve doesn't work as a streamed game. It's a slow game, on stream it appears even more slow than what it is and those who don't play eve don't have any idea on what's going on. www.minerbumping.com |
