my faveroute set up for the phoon is.
4x Siege II RAGE anytthing and some normal 4x med nos
2x painters 1x warp disrupter 1x electro injector
2x LAR II 1x Exp II 1x Kin II 1x Therm II 1x DCU II 1x EAMN II
5x Heavys II 5x Mediums II
2x Armour Repair Amount Rigs 1x Armour Duration Rig
full low grade halo set (optional but only 150mil and redcues your sig to 256 ruffly )
my missiles will do about 277 dps once they are painted and travling under 175m/s my drones will do something around 257-300 dps (with my skills )

Typhoon setups...
I thought as a megathron pilots typhoons are not very good unless nanoing or something I strongly recomend you watch this My vid I have a fight with a crazy typhoon. Its not nano or EW. I won't its unbeliveable. I STRONGLY recomend the download.
I guess his setups was 4 T2 torp launchers with 3 auto cannon + NOS
100NM AB web Distrupter cap injector
Large T2 rep 3x55% hardeners with ENAM2 and Damage control with 1600mm plate and 3 trimark rigs.
I guess he had about 30K of armor and pretty much max skills.
An awsome fight if you are yet to see it. *****************************************

Whatever mix of drones you like. Handy mix would be, 5x Heavy ECM and 5x medium whatever drones.

Speed isnt fantastic at all, but definatly enough to outrun other BS's and BC's, your still gonne get shot, but hopefully not too much, only thing to be weary of is mwd thorax or similar ilk of ships, if your droned, slap on the smartbomb, if fast ships head your way, get the nos on them but leave the neut on the bigger target, if caps draining fast, deactivate the neut and keep the nos running.

Watched the video earlier this afternoon Tibrius. Great vid. the 1 on 1 with the phoon was excellent. You got the KM, you know what some of his mods were. 4 seiges, 3acs, a large nos, lar, heavy injector, 1600 plate. prolly had a pg rig. can cut a couple corners with a named injector, and faction lar amongst other things. im rambling, was an excellent fight though. lot of *****ing and moaning about the phoon. truth is, theres not alot of pilots with maxed applicable phoon skills. takes a long long ******* time to top them off. *if* you have the skills, its a solid ship. and cheap to boot. im not one of those pilots with maxed phoon skills.. bout 3/4 the way through.

You cant really compare that Phoon pilot with the 'average' phoon pilot though. He pretty much has maxed out poon skills, T2 siege, T2 guns, T2 drones (a lot of the skills for that at level 5 as well).
I was actually supprised you killed him
If he knew he was fighting a mega though, he'd have fitted a bit more to beat you (1 mod difference) and you would have lost.
I've tried beating him on sisi in a couple of ship setups, didnt get very far (half his armor). So I decided I was going to train for more 'phoon specific' skills.

Awesome vid Tibs, I liked it alot, especially the first part of it when you survive after being brought down into hull.
On the last fight, I guess the phoon ran out of charges for his cap booster and that s why you actually won it. Sad thing he hasn't tried to get you out of your optimal aswell :s
Guess the following setup
4 siege II + 4 ac II mwd + scram + web + cap booster 2 LAR II + 1 plate 1600 + DCU + 1 enam II + passive kin resist + passive expl resist
2 trimark + 1 thermal resist rig
might be interesting to play with

Yep i use it this fit atm solo and little gangking.Its fast , agility is good , and sweeping.
Only 1 time lose it this typhoon...but that is not my fault,my client is crash when i jump in a system...and what a supprise when i logg in i'm in a pod..:)
So this fit is works..if you jump in a gate camp.you can easy approche back to the gate,dosent matter how many huginn or any web ship in that gate camp. The hostile gate camp got only 4-5 sec to popped my ship...

Im slowly falling in love with Typhoon, though my love has nothing do with Nanos or Nosses.
I think rev2 might have done bit favor for some of the Phoon fits. All those fittings that have active t2 hardeners now should have extra CPU but then again if you had EANs fitted your most likely short on CPU.
Atleast in quickfit I managed to fit t2 d650mm's and t2 Cruises with MWD, EW and Dual LAR t2 rep with injector and t2 hardeners. Too bad I cant actually test this fit as I dont yet have skills for t2 Cruises...
Not yet that is! Around 90d skill boosting on Missiles and Drones and I think I might get married with Phoon

Anyone else feels like eventhough late change on Phoon bonuses was step to right direction were getting still semi shafted?
I mean: - Geddon gets 2 bonuses for as meny turrets it fits (max 7) - Scorpion gets 2 bonuses for every jammer it fits, (max 8) - Dominix gets 1 bonus for as meny turrets it fits, (max 6) and 1 bonus for every drone it has (max 5) do I dare to say it gets 1 bonus for max 11 weapon systems
What we get is: - 1 bonus for as meny turrets and launcher we fit (max 8)
I know its hard to compare these bonuses as each ship has unique ones. The only reason Im bit annoyed about this is that theres no damage mod that gives boost to both missiles and projectiles
I would not wish Phoon to loose its 4/4 slot layout and bonuses for both projectiles and launchers, thats what makes it unique and interesting. But I would like to see its armor HP and shield HP switched around and if it would not make Phoon IMBA maybe boost those bonuse from 5% to 7,5% which would mean about the same than Domi and Geddon with 5% and 10% bonuses.
As the bonuses are right now, well Im happy about em BUT nothing prevents asking more, one can always try
PS: I hope my reply doesnt push this topic off its course, I havent really payed attention on phoon topics on these forums before so I dont know if I should be gearing up with flame proof clothing.

well after Rev2 i would use the following, if my skills would allow it =)
4x 425mm ac II 4x siege II
1x named 100MN MWD 1x x5 web 1x J5 scram 1x ami I cap recharger
1x LAR II 1x Explo hard II 1x Kin hard II 1x n-type thermic hard 1x EANM II 1x DCU II 1x 1600mm rolled tungsten plate
fits with 750/750 cpu and 15624.8/15625 grid (with AWU5), good luck finding as tight a fit on some other boat =)
rigs according to taste, altho with lack of nos or cap booster, CCC might be good, that or rep rigs =)

Anyone able to fit (4xsiege+4xHeavy NOS) Or (4x800+4XHeavy NOS) and a tank at same time after the increase of cpu on eanms?
Mids would need to have a heavy cap injector+mwd
I havent gone through all mods yet to see if its doeble yet. But i find the increase in cpu needed being really hard on this ugly but cool ship :\

My eventual fit will be along the lines of this:
4x dual 425 II's (EMP L) 4x arbi cruise launchers (Cataclysim)
1x 100mn mwd II 2x J5 warp disruptors 1x heavy cap booster II (800)
2x large armour rep II's 1x active exp II 1x active kinetic II 1x active thermal II 1x gyrostab II 1x bcu II
Rigs: 2x Powergrid rig, 1x projectile dmg rig
Drones: 5x ogers, 5x Hammer Head II's
With my future skills and with ogers i get 620dps and with hammers i get 524 dps
im not sure if i would need two warp disruptors though, web might be a better option.

Indeed almost any new pilot can have fun with this ship and is always fun to toy around with enjoy!!!!

The question of the night:
If I can use T2 Large Autocannons and only T1 Cruises, which is the better choice for a nos boat?
The cannons would have better DPS, but the cruise would have better range for any gang combat.

in my opinion drop the plate, slap on a PDU II or a reactor control unit II, and replace the two medium nos for one heavy nos, and one heavy neutralizer. the nos can run the neutralizer, as you use your cap booster and natural regen to keep your reppers running. you can always leave your neut off against enememies that are using cap boosters, so that you can keep your tank running off only nos.

in my opinion drop the plate, slap on a PDU II or a reactor control unit II, and replace the two medium nos for one heavy nos, and one heavy neutralizer. the nos can run the neutralizer, as you use your cap booster and natural regen to keep your reppers running. you can always leave your neut off against enememies that are using cap boosters, so that you can keep your tank running off only nos. also, drop the mwd, the phoon with a TII disruptor and good named nos won't have to worry about anything without a domination disruptor, so replace the mwd with a ab or something completely different(only if you're tight on fittings)

Edited by: Happster on 04/09/2007 11:29:59 After the latest patch and NOS nerf, i find the phoon got a nerf too. Knowing the phoon has the lowest total cap by all BS. You will find yourself run out of cap very fast.
My general idea is this.
If you got good missile skills, and hardly any gunnery skills, then fly phoon. If you got good gunnery skills, the pest and the mael is the better choice.
You can fit a better tank+gank on the pest for same amount of isk that you can on the phoon. So i would advice to use the pest abowe the phoon as you get a lot more for the isk spent.
If you want to spend isk, the mael would be the better abowe the phoon as you can get a mean tank on the mael, at same time you get a pretty good damage on it.
My idea for use of phoon now after the patch is as a nano boat. Thats it.
Reason phoon gets so expencive to use when both tank and gank is because of the price of the powergrid riggs that is needed to fit it. On both pest and mael you dont need these riggs if you got good skills.

I have a question about the nanophoon. I want to do this, I suck at pvp. How do you defend against caldari missle boats. If you see a raven, run your ass off? Do you fit fofs?
