It probably will, just needs a whole lot of unnecessary tinkering than just running Windows XP. If HAVE to run windows server 2003, dual boot XP so you can play it. Beware the Spoons |

If it freezes at the EULA, your video card is probably not supported. Check if your video card supports DirectX 9.

I ran eve on my server.. I had no trouble... except if I ran it for a long time... then it ate all my RAM. If u hate rebooting like I do. Don't play eve on your server. I don't do that anymore. --- Zitek Corporation |

Because Windows 2003 Server is faster than Windows 2K/XP. While it's based off XP it's NOT XP. Which is good because WinXP sucks along with any Mac, or linux system (*/me Waits for the flames*).
After install just turn off all the services you don't need running and it's not much of a server.

Have you made sure that you've got hardware acceleration enabled? I think it's turned off by default. You can get to it through the display properties dialog under the advanced button.

also look under DirectX if the hardware acc is on.
Start->Run->type: dxdiag ->enter goto display tab and see if the hardware acceleration is on

If MS made a half decent home OS people might not want to run thier server OS at home. Has anyone actaully ever got XP Home to do what they want? It stayed installed on my system for about 5 mins....

Win2k3 server had DX features disabled as it was a server program
There are hacks around that allow it to run DX on it so you will have to look around
There are also hacks that make it run the same as XP.

Running it now. Never had anyproblmes what so ever. Its just a nerfed XP Pro, which is rock solid. Just always remember to make a clean install. NEVER uograde from earlier windows... NEVER!

True that 2k3 is faster in many respects than XP, but don't underestimate the speed increase caused by the simpler interface (no Tellytubbies), and lack of most of the stuff that gives XP its easy upgrade path from 98 (I deny that Me (Most evil) was ever released, it's a bad dream).
I run both XP Pro (Home doesn't do it for me) and server 2003 on a home network.
Oh, and the comment about never, ever uprgade; do a clean install? IMHO, Windows shouldn't even have an upgrade option. Would have been better to do something clever to save user files on install, perhaps a LINUX-esq seperate /usr partition for user files. |

I have no issues whatsoever running EVE on Windows 2003 Server Standard (32-bit). With a bit of tinkering with Windows 2003 it is basically a more stable/trim/secure version of Windows XP.

No different than XP, as long as u know how to enable alot of the options. Like sound, directx, graphic acceleration etc.
