Cheaper subscription costs would help.
I mean really the game is made to be played more effectively with alts (proof in CCP condones using Isboxer by their inaction) and alts really help to be effective in game, therefore if the subscription price was lowered per account you would get:
More new players More players willing to buy a subscription rather than pay month by month, or have rolling payment (hence less accounts would lapse) More players willing to get that 2nd or 3rd alt account.
Nothing has to be pay 2 win BS as getting that extra account is effectively pay 2 win (kind of), but this shouldn't anger the community too much.
So at the moment 2 accounts (effective gameplay) is -ú20 per month (-ú9.99 for one account) - why not take a gamble and reduce this to -ú6 - -ú7 per month (2 accounts = -ú12 - -ú14)
Far more would be happy to pay for 2 at that rate.
ALSO... we need more space
Power projection, blah blah, blue donut, blah blah = simple solution give us moar systems, more regions and extend actual distance to make power projection across the whole universe impossible (maybe slight nerf to jump ranges or just make it too damn expensive).
...of course this may mean recreating the database structure so why not use different databases for say Assets + personal status, New Eden, Jove space and whatever is beyond the Eve Gate.
(please note Trolls - I was not suggesting using current eve database tech) Post with my main? This is my main - I just overtrain and overplay my alts. |

protip:
Companies that write off millions and soon afterwards a big portion of their workforce are typically not looking to intentionally reduce their revenue even further.

Hint, when you reach my age, married (and in my case remarried) for years with teenaged children (and in my case, grown step children who themselves have children) and well established in a demanding career field, the even odds are you will just LOVE/CRAVE/NEED a distraction like EVE Online, if for nothing else but the maintenance of sanity. Exactly! I didn't use to say 'bunny' in everything or be mind numbingly silly....but having two daughters did that to me. Now its all bunnies and unicorns and.....ahhhhhh. Thank goodness for games like Eve to escape into, though I am still a bunny knight It is because of my girls (now teenagers) that I sometimes fly around and scream "MUFASA!!!" and singing this song over and over on comms. If I ever got dragged into a bonus room, I was going to be ready!.
Yea, my son has me going 'big rig truck! it got stuck in the mud (thank you bubble guppies ugh) and I sign the 'outside' from bubble guppies and the 'cleanup' song in my head every damn day. Thank gods for eve, where I don't need to hear 'I want to watch George!" or "I'm just a kid who's 4..." (yea parents of little kids will understand my pain) |

Fix broken elements of the game rather than break unbroken parts of the game. I know fixing broken parts of the game is more difficult.....
My number one topic: Fix Corporation/Alliance Roles & Permissions in conjunction with POS use to enable safe use of all POS arrays by multiple eg five to ten capsuleers.
I get the feeling something like this is on the cards in the near future with the forthcoming 'Teams & Industry' dev blog on the horizon but it doesn't hurt to hammer the point home. |

GÇô some actual new content? I agree that some things need fixingGǪ but if you could have some brand new content what would it be? As a builder I would personally like to see: Player built gun platforms for defending destructible outposts. Player built stargates. Player built gun platforms for defending player built stargates. A choice of damage types for fighters per race. A choice of damage types for fighter bombers per race. Add a 3rd fighter type, i.e. fighter bombers that fire bombs and fighter craft that fire missiles. Another empire besides Amarr, Cal, Gal & MinGǪ maybe one of the ancient races or the Jove, and not just the odd incursion. A new set of regions. Other classes of T3 shipGǪ why are there just cruisers? Solar (sun) harvesters GÇô for new building materials. Point defenses (a group of auto-targeting missiles maybe) for titans at the expense of a Hi slot. ... you get the idea, ...so, What would keep you playing for another 10 years? ============================================================================================ "Get rid of the ridiculous overpowered ECM which fully cripples down ones ship for the full duration of a fight; nerf the ridiculous overpowered ECM down" ...then a player like me would very likely keep playing EVE for the next 10 years (& beyond?) also. At present I have 2x accounts, both skill training (both having real good skills already)...but, when I consider logging in I ask myself? Why should I logg in? What entertaining things am I gonna go? ...since (battle focussed as I am) I would like to play in low sec or nul-sec, going for the entertaining fights(!) But at present, my many high value ships (which I can easily afford & are willing to burn in fights, as long it is in an entertaining ways/fights)..would be easily totally crippled down by some cheap 20 mil ECM-Cruiser (or even frigates .....) for the full duration of the fight: one cannot even shoot back in such fights(!??). In fact, this represents the very only critisism I have since as in a total I opine EVE is (& could stay) the most fascinating SciFi game there is(!) And if the ECM is severly nerfed than we would see many more new players realy getting enthousiastic about keep playing EVE for the many years to come (..but what players do we see at present being logged in, generally speaking: most are 1st-hour players having 10 to 18 accounts for ISK grindings simultanuously...so, where are the new players, coming in for the real entertainment that EVE could certainly provide when ECM will be nerfed(?) ...) Besides the above, in my opinion many MMO-players play more than 1 MMO: I myself am subscriber to playing 2 MMO's which I like the most: EVE + SWTOR. So, those players are capable enough to easily detect some extraordinary game- mechanic, realy to be nerfed. So, my opinion, EVE could be far greater (incl. attracting far more new players) and more interesting for many when they would decide to nerf ECM down severely. Last: seems lots of veteran players see playing EVE as " doing working hours" ...doing the many ISK grindings for free, almost mechanically. My question: what happened to "FUN & ENTERTAINMENT" commonly known & accepted as the most important reason for gamers to playing MMO's. In short: I very much like EVE as a total package (great graphics, excellent game mechanics & even having great forums & players community etc.). My only real criticism: get rid of the ridicilous overpowerd ECM.

More pve opportunity for skilled players in highsec. I have spent years in nul and sometimes when I get tired of the nulsec grind(like now) I spend time in highsec running solo. Only trouble is lvl IVs are just not challenging enough. I think nulsec life is great and well rounded but highsec difficulty needs to be expanded. yes, penalizing different play styles. Why not make room for ALL playstyles? Criminies sake I've been playing this game for five years. Why not have as many varied experiences as possible? |

Because less risk = less reward, or it should.
Highsec does have incursions, after all. But I imagine you're talking about solo PvE encounters, yes? "Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws."

I'm talking about making more difficult sites in highsec. Difficulty obviously means less safety. Yes incursions are great and very dangerous but the pay is crap unless you use a large group. So essentially they're forcing you to play it safe in order to make money.

Can't speak for him, but for me no, not solo. Something that requires a group while not being quite so limited in responsiveness to the way players respond would be nice. But that's not going to be quick in coming I'm sure.
Though, why does new PvE somehow = greater reward to you? Doesn't even seem that was what was asked for. Or do you consider enjoyment reward that highsec shouldn't have? |

They're rather similar to high class wormhole content, from my understanding of it. It's not intended to be solo content, the difficulty rating is high enough that self sufficiency is not really part of the equation. (Not saying it can't be done, of course, but that it's intended as group content)

What you're saying is "I want better AI, smarter rats to kill".
So do I. So do most of us. But as you said, that will be a long time coming. PvE in almost any MMO setting is not particularly advanced, that's just the nature of the beast.
But would it be really nice to fight these NPC pirates like they were at least something closer to real players, instead of 50 red crosses to get beaten by one guy? Yeah. It would also be amazing if there weren't quite so much difference between PvE and PvP fittings, too. To be honest, I'm really hoping that this was part of the research on content creation tools mentioned in the most recent CSM minutes, and that it's not just a new means of randomizing waves of the same old NPC's.
But yeah, you've pretty much summed up my desires of PvE, and while I think it can be adapted to solo, I think it works better in groups and should lean that direction.

Eve is also the only game I have had any true emotional investment in. I will not confirm or deny that my eyes may have almost watered at losing my first "shouldn't have flown what I couldn't afford to lose" ship, or how exciting that first kill was.
