After two months of staring at my miner's lasers I think it's time to finally cash in my haul. I've been reading up on the basics of the process for the last few days in preparation, and I'm currently working toward improving my ore refinement abilities by doing quests for agents and skill-training. As I understand it:
Refinement Efficiency
50 + 10 + 20 + 25 - 0= 105%
50% Station Equipment + Refining + Refinery efficiency + Ore Processing - Station Tax = Net Yield
If this is correct, then would the additional 5% mean I receive 5% more, or is it just null overflow? |

That's not how it's calculated. It's
StationBase + .375 * ( 1 + .02 * Refining ) * ( 1 + .04 * RefEfficency ) * ( 1 + .05 * OreSkill )
With max skills at a 50% base station, that ends up at about 112%. However, you can't get more than 100% yield, so it caps at that. Taxes are taken out after that.
Keep in mind that this is all going to change in the summer expansion, and the info above will become obsolete. Read about the changes here: http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/reprocess-all-the-things/ |

The current formula is:
Yield = MINIMUM(100%, Station Facilities + 37.5% * (1 + Refining * 2%) * (1 + Refinery Efficiency * 4%) * (1 + Material Specialization * 5%))
Refining Tax Percent = MAXIMUM(0%, 5 - 0.75 * standing)
The net yield displayed in the UI does not include material specialization, as you can process different materials at the same time which can have different yields. There really should be a yield column.
This is all changing with the summer expansion: Reprocess all the things! |

Definitely read up on the changes coming in the next expansion.
Excellent refining skills will be a serious asset to characters in many areas of space. If you are in highsec you will be able to forge alliances with miners, offering to reprocess their ore for a fee, and you may even be able to build trust with them, then rob them blind.
If you wind up in sovereign nullsec you will have similar options. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=326497 --áPsychotic Monk for CSM! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. If you want to mine in highsec, read www.minerbumping.com. |

Don't forget the new POS refining array that gives the best refining yield with little skill required. Unless CCP have dropped that idea? |

After sacrificing many Devs to the dark development gods, we are now able to confirm we will have reprocessing skills affect Starbase Reprocessing Arrays - if not for the Summer release, shortly after.
