Start a fresh pilot and start solo; this is different as it is not the best way to play as you are solo. Train all skills you need to do what you need to do. Pretend EvE was like it was population size when it first started.
Yes, you have to suspend reality a little at the beginning but you will soon interact with people. Buy your firgate bpos that you want to use. Find a low sec system with low material research ques and research the material efficiency. While this is happening rat in pvp fit frigates, mine in ventures, train your trade skills so you can station trade and work the buy low sell high system for the whole region. All the while building relations with the locals. Go to a low sec region you are not really familiar with to spice things up. |

I second the idea of going hermit. Travel the universe, scrape a living.
On a tangent you could always set yourself a mammoth task. I personally really get into long 'grinds'. I've always thought it would be cool to travel to every star system once. Along the way maybe do a bit of exploration, ratting, photography...what ever blows your skirt up at the time. Take a mobile depot with a few essentials and head off the beaten track. Hope you find your love for the game again :) |

To me, it's always been about the story. For example, whenever I play Skyrim, I always reach that kind of endgame state. That point where there really isn't anymore story to add, so it kind of becomes stale. That's the point where I always restart- I delete the old save files and start anew with a fresh character. And I avoid making the same choices I made in the previous file.
I'm not saying biomass all your characters, but make a new one. And definitely immerse yourself. What would you do if you weren't you? Sure the major plot points may be the same, but those transcend everything. I make the same general choices in game as everyone else. On my main, those choices reflect who I am. Karl is me. My alts are not me. In a way, they should allow you to see the world through a different window, and therefore allow you to see yourself through a different window.
It's a sandbox game. But what is the sand? The game? Or you? |

That's why the "fresh start" character should be an alt, while you retain access to your main account. You can bring the fledgling tribe into the fold when the time is right, if you so choose.
So much this! To be honest, what I would do is roll a new character and as stated above do it so none of your 'now' assests never touch it. Also, as a point have it so no one (not even your RL in game friends) know who it is.
Build up from scratch, set yourself goals. New goals from what your old goals in game where that eventually lead you down the path to owning your own corp and alliance again. Build up from nothing with only the clothes that are on your back.
I don't know much about your old corps / alliance or your play style, but switch it up a little bit. If your old corp / alliance was a nullsec corp, maybe try to build up a Wormhole corp or a lowsec piracy alliance instead and / or vice versa.
If you keep this new char on the low down, not letting people know who you are and what you have done, the game is literally at your fingertips, sure you will still get awoxers and spies as natural, but you wont have anyone who specifically targets you because of your other chars.
It will be hard work and dedication, but you know all of this anyway.
By the sounds of it, reading through your replies and the original post, you already know what you want to do. So the best advice to give is grab it by the balls and dive straight in and have fun... Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person." |
