200 billion star systems is excessive.
I think 185 billion would be plenty.

I honestly think it would be exciting to be able to actually explore uncharted space.
I enjoy exploration but it's not really an option in this game. Wormholes aren't the mystic they used to be, most if not all nullsec systems are owned.
I think it would be neat to randomly come across a derelict ship with high rewards should you be able to crack the security. Rats would be far and few between.
I think it would be really exciting when you do come across another player. Are they friend or foe? Do they have friends? Maybe you two agree to travel together because you are lonely and just want someone to chat with while you explore. This could lead to traps in other systems by a gang of players being lead by this new "friend".
A new type of ship could be designed for the sole purpose of these long term exploration voyages. Modular ships that could mine materials when needed and build replacement ammo. This self sufficient ship could used mined materials to make repairs over time. This would allow players to explore for long periods of time without having to return to known space.
CCP could design a system that would chart the systems you have been to so you don't get completely lost lol
Eventually you would have to return to known space to sell whatever rewards you have found. These parts would be rare, expensive, and could be used to build extremely advanced ships or modules.
Anyway, I think it would be fun. Agree or disagree, I would love it. |

Uncharted systems were added to EVE. They were called WH's. They even had a random but patterned mechanic dictating travel to them. Now, despite the random mechanic they are fully mapped out, databased and farmed, with nothing unknown about them.
Adding 'new' systems is Themepark expansion style. They will get mapped out, farmed in the most efficient manner.
If you want good 'unknown' content, you create a better anomaly system inside the existing systems that doesn't create the damsel for the 5000th time with perfectly known enemies that you can look up in a database, but a site that is actually unknown. It may have dangerous radiation. You don't know the gate pattern. You can't look the NPC's up in a database because they are generated along their racial lines fresh each time. |

200 "Graham's Number" (with a G) Star Systems.
fyi Graham's number ends with a 7 but is still much, much larger than a googolplex. |

200 billion star systems? Not only would 99% of them always be empty, completely waste of space, they could also possibly make travel times far greater, unless theres "super highway stargates" connectiong a crapton of systems, and if that was gonna happen, we'd have systems with a stupidly high amount of stargates. Otherwise, youl have weeks worth of travel time to go from one end of the game universe to the other. .
That's a very good point. Even if all the systems are vertices on a high-dimension hypercube, there's still a lot of gates and a lot of jumps (I calculated 38 gates per system and 38 jumps max... I could be horribly wrong though)

This self sufficient ship could used mined materials to make repairs over time. This would allow players to explore for long periods of time without having to return to known space. Mind you these build times would take far longer than usual (we don't need roaming factories for the big alliances) as would the repair systems. This would require you to be mindful of your ammo reserves. You would need to equip hull/armor/shield repair modules for the short term like usual.
CCP could design a system that would chart the systems you have been to so you don't get completely lost lol

And it's not like everybody would want to explore, most would still hang around known space like they do now. Being able to build outposts or supply depots along the way to resupply you or others following you would be a way to do it too. Maybe even set down gates? . |

Interesting ideas, I'm not sure if I'd want to leave a trail behind for people to follow lol but I'm overly cautious by nature, especially in the Eve universe
Setting up new stargates would be cool
I was thinking of a way you could instantly travel back to empire space with your ship even though you would have to start from scratch when you went back, but that's part of the fun I suppose. I thought I'd call it a "quantum entanglement jump drive" (patent pending). It would be similar to a jump clone. 24 hour in between uses, but only one "home" destination, unlike multiple jump clones. It would require 95% cap and could only be used with those special deep space exploration vessels and would require fuel like other jump drives. It could easily be given some in game lore via recovered Terran tech or something along those lines.
It could only be built with parts found while exploring those deep space areas so nobody would have any of them at first. Stargate materials could be found while exploring too.
So many possibilities
Just a thought. |

The server renders nothing, except portraits. The amount of system indicates they are generated on the fly, so the amount of data to be saved is ridiculously low. All graphics are done on the client and all the data necessary to simulate a system likewise. Jump ranges do not have any influence on server performance. Please explain wtf you are talking about...
Really? Oops. I read a few years ago that the reason private servers didn't exist is because the server has to run all the systems at the same time and no one is going to set up a private server if it requires that much money. |
