Preamble: First let me say, this is just my point of view. In EVE you have many ways to fight, to hang around, to make trouble or just to live the way you want. For a lot of players the 0.0 is the ultimative challange. But for a lot of players not.
Eve just can grow, if there is enougth place in every direction the way players want to live. I know CCP dont want to put more solarsystems in, and I can understand and respect this position. But dear CCP, dont be suprised, that the number of paying people wont rise. And this is a fact since 5 years.
In my opinion, there are not enougth scope to create something unique or great for smaller scaled corporations or alliances. But there should. A large scale of player identify so much with theyr corporation or small alliance that they have to search other possibilitys. They wont join a large alliance.
There must be the place, player enjoing the game.
Main Part:
1. Give corporations / alliances the possibility to claim an area in low or highsec!
How does it work?
Every low/highsec system is claimed by an NPC Corp/Faction. You go to an station and ask for free "claims/area" in this system. You can rent this area like an office, but its clearly outside the station. Now you are able to use this area. Its also possible to upgrade it with a structure and modules. (can be tie with standing)
For what can you use it?
- mining - ratting - special missions - special harvesting (gas, some moon material) - simple creating your "hang around area" - building installations that will give you an advantage in defensive situations, or give some special ability in this system for example (also refining, science, industry ect.) - have the possibility to make it "open" for other player and clearly usable
Problems?
- Is it scannable/useable for other player? - Can other player bring it down in war? - general balancing - ... |

You can claim whatever space in inside your POS shield. Some out of it too if you have POS guns but thats more like sphere of influence instead of being yours fully. |

First reply has my vote. For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be. |

this idea is bad until players use all the systems that are in this game there is no point in adding more (and there are alot of systems that spend most of their time empty |

I thought this was some spin on player housing, until I saw the bit about mining and ratting.

The concept of having a pocket of space to call home is an interesting one, and by no means new.
But u should never have exclusive rights to anything in space. If u want something, u must take it, and defend it, from anyone else who wants it. So the concept of owning space that generates resources i am very much against. However, the concept of trying to lay claim to a pocket of resources and defending that pocket from other players is something i'd like to see.
sometimes i wonder how much fun could be had by making anyone who warps into an ore site suspect. I am a suicide ganker, and a small time war dec'er. Be aware of that before you read the rest of my post.
First, here are some things I would need to see before I would agree to any such thing.
1) I must be able to scan you down in your little sandbox play area, and kill you there. Sure maybe you can have a couple anchored structures to give you a bit of a defensive edge, but that's it, nothing like the massive death / **** stars POS's can provide.
2) You would have to work for these and maintain them. i.e. their quality would increase the more they are used, and decrease if left unused. This way if I dec you, you don't want to just sit in station until I go away, cause then you're precious private sites are deteriorating.
3) They must be tied to the corp itself, as you said, like offices. If you dissolve your corp, they disappear (or become dormant, whatever).
4) They would be better than the alternative, though not by a massive margin. I.e. a ratting site should be better than a lvl 4 mission etc. This would encourage people to pursue owning them.
5) They should be fairly easily accessible for initial setup allowing small and low activity corps to make use of them.
6) Owning more of them should be harder / more expensive. Maybe you have to fuel them or something? Just to prevent massive groups farming the crap out of them.
7) The resources etc inside them should only be available to the owners safely / without consequence. Maybe ninja mining in them flags you suspect, or killing rats in them does the same. Maybe even just letting any anchored defensive structures to shoot pillagers (both?). This would prevent / reduce one man corps setting them up then farming them with alts.
Why do I want to see something along these lines?
Corp Identity. Corp loyalty. Something like these would give PVE players a reason to stay in their corp and encourage people to join a player corp over staying in an NPC corp. It would also give players who generally PVE a reason to fight during a war, the active defense of their hard earned playhouse. It also strongly encourages people to remain in their corp rather than dropping corp and reforming. This obviously wouldn't do much to encourage the same among PVP players, but hey, it's a start.
