OK trying to learn the joys of Scanning.
Mission 2 of Exploration.
Scan and refine scan and find Data area..found three actually.
Found two of the containers, and hacked them both ..the first one five times the second one three times and NO nothing at all spewed out. How in the heck do we get the certificate of discover if there IS NOTHING to grab?
anyone have any clues? is this a nightmare that will continue with all scanning? is this horrible system of spewing containers going to be the way all scanned items are found?????
who i heck dreamed up such a terrible idea? i hate mini games and this may be one of the worst.

Hmm, are you sure nothing is spewing out? What comes out is very small.
Here click this youtube video, it's a link to a scanning tutorial. I have the timer set to show you what the little things that pop out are.

ah so they trail smoke. no nothing like that nothing at all came out of any of the containers i found.
That was helpful. thank you for doing that.
they had to restart the tutorial for me as i quit it once when i could not figure out how to work the scanner. I did research and figured that out.
but now ...nadda to find.
i filed a ticket maybe they can tell me what is up.
btw, do the spewed out things show up on the overview list? can you target them there? that would make up for this insanity but somehow i suspect they wont show. |

They _should_ show up there; however, you might need to update your overview to include them (i.e. the "default" doesn't show them). One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

And, no, they don't show in your overview.
As far as I can remember, the tutorial sites spew out only one container, which is very much larger than those in the normal sites. |

Zooming out a bit helps too.
Thought I'll add this just in case. Many people miss a lot of things that happen around them when they are zoomed in completely.
It puts them in a disadvantage. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4492860 Killmails for Wrecks!! Ganker tears, best tears! And how do I put text as links into signatures?? |

What I do: 1. Use the look option on the container before I start the mini-game. You need to also make sure your ship is almost ramming the container because the efficacy of the tractor beams is based on distance to ship. 2. Do the mini-game frequently checking local 3. When the container spews click on the first item I see, then adjust my zoom and angle to keep everything clear. 4. Check local. 5. Quickly mouse over a few of the items then while first item is being tractored click on second item so there is a ring around it, this queues it to automatically tractor when the first is done. Only one item may be queued at a time. 6. Check local.
If in HS and not at war, I might not check local, but it's a good habit so I don't berate myself if I check local needlessly.
It is possible your tutorial doesn't spew items, in that case just click on open container after hacking it.
Item spew is going away. Which will at least prevent people from sneaking up on me while I'm collecting. I'm sorry this has happened to you, OP. Mini-games are terrible and this one is an ill-conceived attempt to add substance to one of the last few expansions. Right click the container and hit open.

It's also possible for cans to be empty. If someone hits a site before you do but doesn't finish it, the empty cans will still be there. |

Also, double check that you are in the right training anomaly. 'Data' rather than 'Relic'. The tutorial cans can be empty if someone has used the site immediately before you, but should refresh quickly. |
