I have a few questions for you professional gankers. I multibox 15 miners and I have been thinking about training up some ganking characters to go gank people with when I don't feel like mining. I'm thinking about training them into tech 2 hybrid weapons for more damage and the whole skill plan is about 15-16 days, that includes Gallente Destroyer, Small Blaster Specialization and Rapid Firing to L4. Pyfa says the DPS for each catalyst is going to be around 508 when overheated. That is a total of about 7,620 DPS with them all. Is that enough to take out a freighter or maybe an untanked orca? What are you guys thought on this? What other skills should I train to help out?
Here the fit for the catalyst:
[Catalyst, Ganking T2]
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Prototype Sensor Booster [Empty Med slot]
Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S
Small Hybrid Burst Aerator I [Empty Rig slot] [Empty Rig slot] |

http://greedygoblin.blogspot.co.uk/p/why-was-i-ganked.html
Hes got a nice chart on there for the number of cats it takes to kill mining barges. Looks like with 15 you can go after skiffs and procs. wether you can get an orca/freighter will probably depend on the security of the system.
If you want to go freighter hunting why not try the 14 day alphaganknado program? http://tacticalentertainment.tv/hulkageddon-guide-2012 (10kalpha)
a 150k alpha strike can prob take down ALOT (Im thinking pimp mission boats maybe as well?) bearing in mind any active resist mods they have wouldn't be running. You get a 2nd shot in 0.5 and 0.6 systems too if I remember correctly.
As for skill training cats: http://greedygoblin.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/catalyst-ganking-guide.html http://www.minerbumping.com/2012/12/the-evolution-of-catalyst-pilot.html
have fun.

15 Cat's fit up as you describe?
Pretty much anything you want.
Altho you'll still bounce off the Veldnaught.

If you train then a little more you can probably go after juicy incursion battleships in 0.5. Set the universe on fire - then sell the survivors ash. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. I recommend not leaving that mid slot empty, and I suppose your fleet isn't below -5 yet, so you'll have time to lock and approach your target. For now, Scram & Eccm can be better choices especially for a guaranteed kill.
Compared to multibox mining, you will no doubt have more fun multibox ganking, so I appreciate your idea. In the long term, you can also train the Talos. I have seen 6-7 Taloses gank freighters in 0.5 systems. Imagine what you can do with 15!
Maybe you should start a new gankologic trend focusing on Skiffs and Procurers only, reminding them the importance of D-SCAN and not going AFK just because they have good tank. |

Leave them in dirt cheap T1 fit Catalysts, then split them up into smaller groups and slaughter barges and exhumers continuously. |

T2 Cats should do a lot more than 508 overheated.
Add a small hybrid collision accelerator in another rig slot. +10% base, but of course will be less due to your MFS IIs Train a few levels of Surgical Strike. +3% damage per level Get Zainou "Deadeye" Small Hybrid Turret SH-603 implant in slot 6. +3% small hybrid damage Get Eifyr and Co. "Gunslinger" Surgical Strike SS-901 implant in slot 9. +1% all weapons
Of course you can get more expensive versions of slot 6 and 9 implants if you want to spend the ISK Making hisec better...one Catalyst at a time

I think in the long run I may train them into Talos or Tornados.

I think thats what I'm going to do with small targets but with bigger ones use the T2 ships.

The second rig requires quite a bit more in the way of fitting skills. It's worth doing, but it is only +2.7% damage or so after stacking penalties.
On the ECCM suggestion: that requires CPU implants IIRC, or AWU 5, for fitting reasons. AWU 5 is clearly not happening on a dual-character-training alt as training it on 15 characters is basically 15 PLEX (10b ISK). When I decide to make the ganking characters I'll just pause all training on my main miners. My main miners can already all fly exhumers and have almost max drone skills the only thing I really want to train them into are Ishtars and a little bit of indy for the summer. I don't plan on doing dual-char training because of the price tag, I already plex them all already every month. |
