I know a lot of people are disappointed that we are either 'not getting new stuff' or 'my pet peeve is not being addressed' But personally speaking, as a 10 year vet myself, I am EXTREMELY happy with the current course. Sure Rubicon did not have a 'omg that is amazing' feature, but I am having a blast playing with sypohons and the mobile depot. The previous pos changes, of making it so I can move stuff anywhere while in the shield and the personal hanger are a god send. CCP refocused on eve, in some aspects it could be a huge mistake. +1 Its a shame the overwhelming tone on the forums is of disappointment and cynicism about the future. Although how representative of the playerbase that is looks unclear - particularly with the first couple of devblogs about Industry receiving over 90 pages of feedback, most of which is cautiously optimistic or outright gleeful. We demanded fixes to old content, now it's underway people are moaning they want new content. Some of us complained our subs were being spent on side projects, now attention is firmly focused on the core game, and another wave of complaining ensues. CCP need to do another video with devs singing "Oh FFS" or "WTF Just Tell Us What You Really, Really Want".
The roadmap charts I've seen show a 5 year plan in which various elements are tweaked with each expansion rather than focusing exclusively on a niche area. It's not perfect, it might be too late, and sure other games are always being released which could pull away existing players, but when has that not been the case since 2003? I'm not all that sure the argument that new content expansions will attract new players is even valid. Despite imperfections with WHs Apocrypha is the one most frequently cited as a successful 'new content' release and Incarna the extreme opposite, despite being more anticipated. How much effect did either really have on new player acquisition anyway, and would the type of player attracted to Incarna features have integrated with the existing playerbase? B-R certainly created a sub spike, suggesting in a sandbox we should be attracting new players ourselves via ingame events.
I'd rather they stay on course, finish this development cycle then start on something new, or introduce new things in phases. Various quality of life improvements and small releases like siphon units and bastion mode that aren't horrendously complicated with unanticipated knock-on effects seem preferable to me. These industry changes will have a massive impact across the game, even for those who aren't industrialists. If people aren't seeing that they need to pay closer attention. They're halfway though this scheme so for long term players its not even a particularly lengthy timeframe until completion. If people can't wait another couple of years, are they really the type of players who should be pacified at the expense of vets anyway? It's alright labelling yourself a 'bittervet', but if you were that bitter you'd be moaning on another board about how terrible Eve is :P TO THE RIPARDMOBILE! |

The bright spark who thought it would be a good idea to release dev blogs on industry, research and manufacturing one at a time, over a period of months, needs to be fired. I mean if you want to troll the player base and be as irritating as possible, go ahead. But why would you want to irritate paying customers? I know it was a Producer, not a dev. Producers are dumbasses like that. You'd need to roll in around 10 producers to get the same weight of neurons as a single dev. |

I'm not getting it. CCP have not been shy about mentioning their need for a lot more subscribers. If tweaking industry is the big plan, just what is the expected result? I see no game-changers on the horizon, but would like to believe that the devs have something to dazzle us with besides last year's Valkyrie demo.
More of the same is not going to capture more of the same kinds of players, because we're already here or are being replaced at the same flat rate by the same sorts of new players who like the same sorts of gaming.

Wait.. you do realize jump fuel cost and set by players right? So I dunno what you mean by jump fuel cost increase beign a solution to a problem... or a problem it's self.
JF are not really a problem with industry. Lack of incentive to make **** in null sec is. Its easier and cheaper to build in empire and jump it to null then it is to build in null.
Null needs a expansion of its own to fix.
Baby steps people, you are trying to fix 9 (current reworking was 2 years ago and we are starting year 11 of eve) of incomplete and neglected crap. You can't wave a wand and fix it at once, its gonna take time. Patience younglings. |

Two points: 1) every year CCP has a chance to grab new players, as ever year people get older, and so every year there is a new pool of 16-20 year olds who might be into eve.
Second, revamping old systems improve both the quality of life for players and rips out a piece of crappy code. By redoing industry, it gives ccp a chance to grab the single threded code, rip it out, and put in multi threaded multi core code. This will increase performance, which will reduce lag and make bigger battles and more people in jita possible.
Just because you don't think its going to make a huge improvement doesnlt mean it won't. Its like if you complain because your road is being repaved when it worked perfectly fine last year. The new road will give you a huge performance increase and reduce your matinance.
The industry revamp not only makes life easier for people who do industry (less ******* clicking is awesome!) but also will do a lot of under the hood tweeks to improve everyones life.
EVE doesn't need a huge game changer, it needs to be repaired so its running at optimal performance, then they can add new stuff. And the players that you don't think eve will find? There could be a few old time vets who left ages ago because they hated industry, hated all the clicking and got tired of it. Some could want to come back and hearing that industry has changed might do that. Making eve more intuitive, while not 'dumbing it down' will also keep new players long. Esp when valk and dust attract new customers who will want to try eve to get the full experience.
They need to keep fixing. Big stuff for eve can wait a bit longer. I'm personally very happy with the current course. |

After reading the latest dev blog, it is abundantly clear that CCP has blindfolded the driver after pumping 10 Jagr's into him, dropped a brick on the gas pedal, cut the brake lines, and said, "it should all work out fine".
The amount of times I read "we hadn't thought about that", "we don't know", "we are adding that later", or "we don't have time", is flat out insane. Most people viewed Orwell's writings as a warning. The harper regime and the goons treat them as a guidebook. |

Why do you think it's insane?
1) CCP doesn't do everything in eve. They also can't think of everything, as clearly shown several times when they come up with something but players use it in a way they never thought we would. Can mining being an example. CCP are not gods, mind readers or psychics. Its why they ask for feedback. As because billy at ccp came up with this idea, and 500 people go 'yea that could work' one guy in alliance x who does a specific task could see what they are proposing and go 'uh I can easily brak the game with that' I would rather ccp admit they never thought of that then to plow ahead and get no feed back.
2) Adding something later just means either a) they can't add that right now due to code limits or time limit. b) its not part of this cycle. or c) they were told not to address this because it will be addressed later as part of a bigger whole.
and 3) not having time is normal. They don't have unlimited amount of time. They are told 'we will do the next expantion on this date, its a hard set date, we won't change it, all yoru changes need to be done and ready by x' o they have to figure out what is feasible to do in X amount of time.
Clearly it seems that you have not worked that kind of enviorment |

I am inclined to agree with DaReaper, fix what we have then move on.
It would help if CCP actually came out and said where the main thrust of their plans are for the next couple of years.
Right now it is unclear where the emphasis is for CCP, fix stuff or new stuff?
My argument against DUST has always been, why should a game I will never play, on a platform I do not wish to own be allowed to have any impact whatsoever on a game I do pay for on a platform I do own?
DUST, by any measurable standard has been a complete disaster so far, pretty poor reviews and and only played by a few people.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, let it rest in peace.
CCP should stick to Eve Online and make it an even more wonderful game than it already is.

I'll disagree with your dust part, Dust has potential to be awesome, even added to eve. It can enhance the eve experience, and give us new blood and new game play. The problem is not it being on the ps3, though lots of people think it is, the issue is its not connected enough to eve. I have zero reason to give a **** about dust bunnies, and I have and do play dust. I really want ccp to give me a legit reason to care. Even something as simple as having dust bunnies battle it out in a 0.0 station, and if the attacking side wins the starting has no RF timer. Or loses a timer. or timer cut in 1/2. And if the defenders win, the station goes invulnerable for a bit. That would give me a reason to want to care about dust. |

I do not know what game you think you are playing, but as someone who has been in eve since near the begining, i can tell you that you honestly have no idea what you are talking about. I can list, off the top of my head fifteen things that are, by most peoples standard, broken or unfinshed. The current fixing is only in year 2 and just Started. WiS came out summer of 11, the summer of rage right after, oracal, which was the start of the 180 was winter 11. Then you had crucible in 12, another expantion i can not for the life of me name in 12, odyssy in 13 (start Of the 5 year plan) rubicon, and now the unnamed expation. Not everything has has been addressed, and here is my list:
PoS` SOVEREIGNTY PI MINING MOON GOO INDUSTRY HIGH VS NULL TECH 3 CAP SHIPS WiS Dust interlink
Ok 11 off the top of my head. All need to be relooked at, before being abbandoned for the next big thing. CCP is on year 2 of a5 year plan. My hope is alot of repairs and a slow buildup. Then drop something awesome. I would rather wait a bit more, then get a half assed unfinshed new feature that takes 10 years to looked at aand fixed |

Some of those like SOV, POS, and High vs Null could be revamped into a game changer. However CCP is way to passive to do anything drastic to achieve that, and instead just do little fixes at a time which achieve nothing.
Doing another Apocrypha style expansion in both size and scope is what Eve needs imo, but I'm doubtful in CCPs ability to deliver.
