I'm relatively new to Linux, but when my windows laptop hdd went, I decided to throw an SSD in with Linux. All is great except for the one game I play: EVE.
I gotten past the installer issues, followed a couple of guides, and am *most* of the way there...
I can login, select my character, get into the station. I have two difficulties:
- I can't rotate the camera around the ship in the station. It's like it's a static picture. Menus all still work, windows, etc. This isn't actually important, just throwing it in there in case it matters.
- When I leave the station, space is WHITE. It's like I'm in the middle of the sun. I can see markers in space and stuff, camera rotation works, I just can't see anything because everything is white.
I've tried messing around with some of the settings in driconf, disabled the d3d11 in winecfg, but nothing has helped.
I'm hoping that someone recognizes this issue.
Acer Aspire p571 Elementary OS Luna 64 Wine 1.7.17

It definitely has something to do with the 3D portion. All the windows and menus work, but space and the map are crazy collections of polygons... |

Deactivating CQ deactivates also the ship spinning. I'll check later if there is an option to reactivate it again (something with "Station Enviroment")
For the white space: Have you tried other graphics settings? Reduce them step for step, especially AA. What graphics card do you have and which driver in Linux? eXeler0n ============================ Quafe:-á http://quafe.de Blogpack:-á http://eveblogs.de |

1) Unchecking Load Station Environment both disables CQ AND ship spinning. It's enough, though, to disable it once to make dock default instead of CQ. You can then enable it again and get your precious ship spinning. Just be careful not to press "Enter CQ".
2) I sometimes have this problem appear randomly on my nVidia videocard. But it's never permanent. Try fondling with video settings. Especially shaders. |

Woohoo!
For future reference: the key to this was found in the final two posts at https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=98023.

There's still an occasional flash of white while orbiting the camera around the ship, but it's minor and very playable. |

The white blooming sort of effect seemed to occasionally get me running fedora 20.
Nvidia card there as well... recent-ish phenomenon as far as I can tell, seems to occur in conjunction with explosion effects. Last I saw it occur I was a bit startled as the whole section of a belt went white when a battleship rat went pop. |

white space used to happen to me in windows (haven't had it yet in linux) with an Nvidia card, so maybe there's something about nvidia? |
