I see alot of "blowing stuff up is fun" replies.
OK, so my next question is: where is the challenge? Sounds like kids pulling the wings off of flies for the lulz.
But where are those trying to pull the wings off of wasps? Where is the challenge to the aggressors?
I guess I define "fun" by challenge. Freighters dont provide much of a fight IMO. Would really spice things up I think. Well organised "professional" army versus indisciplined, ill trained, ill equipped militia, full frontal attack. I wonder what the end result would be? We all know the number game really makes the difference (how many people in fleet) in weather a loss or success. So take PL, Dreddit, the Russians, and anyone who is willing to throw down to meet up. Cyno chain ect. The GÇ£militiaGÇ¥ arrives at top secret date/ time. Militia flies up to the goon home area and starts bashing. The goons toss together their very effective tengu/ shiny death contraption fleet and go to work. When they deploy said fleet they will target those trying to take sov. Now the mission is not to take anything, the mission IS to break things. So letGÇÖs say we GÇ£militiaGÇ¥ take down some POSGÇÖs and a station, catch a few of their miners in a belt. The hive will swarm and come to life. Now I doubt that the militia will last long but I believe it will shake the hive to where the game may become interesting again. I foresee epic amounts of butt hurt and tears. All out wars and will possibly stoke the fires of change. So before you speak think of all the possibilities first. The activate mouth launcher.
I think it wil end the same as the last time a big high sec fleet jumped into null sec:

If you don't find blowing up things for no reason 'fun' then don't do it. It's really as simple as that. I don't find ganking fun so I don't do it, I also don't pass judgement on how someone else enjoys playing a video game.
It's kind of ironic to see someone like you being judgmental about how people have fun in a video game. Most human beings wouldn't **** away the finite amount of time we all get to be on this earth playing a video game like we do and would also wonder (like you are doing is) what the point of it all is.
Hell, me personally, if I'd spent as much time seeking a higher degree as I've spent blowing up imaginary space ships, i'd be Dr. Jenn aSide by now lol, so excuse me if I resit your urge to look down on the gankers here lol.
Are you suggesting that other people should do only those things that YOU agree are fun?

Oh Jeez.
Funny but in the 21st century, posting any opinion or question suddenly becomes "judgment" for some.
No one is judging, so get off it. Or get some help. In psych terms, you are "internalizing" the theme of the thread.
Personally Im sick of all the politically correct BS in modern society. Everyone is afraid to speak for fear of "offending" someone.

Rofl, I hate when people project. You turned what I said into a nonsensical rant against political correctness. That's stupid because I'm not being politically correct, i'm pointing out that it's ironic that a video game player would be judgmental against other video game players when the fact is that we're all a little bit bent be evidenced by our hobby.
Your postings about the matter are judgemental. This is what you posted: Quote:I see alot of "blowing stuff up is fun" replies.

I'd have to check the website for it, but IIRC over 50 billion worth in freighter hulls + assets were destroyed in the main market hub of the game over the weekend. That's the kind of emergent content that makes headlines, and is why the Goons should be praised for doing what they do. The fun that came with shooting dudes too ignorant to follow the metagame was a plus as well. More like 500 billion. Please excuse me while I twirl my mustache and practice my evil laugh. |

But I am not sure what a fleet action a year ago has to do with Burn Jita (You know, the topic of conversation)

I'm wondering if Jita was simply too small of a target.
Here's the reason:
For a long time now, even before the SoE ships and the boost in LP income from running SoE L4s, I was based in Osmon. It was more quiet back then. I ran mainly SoE missions when in highsec because it gave me better control over my standings with the empires. Running FIO missions for example does not play well with Caldari faction.
But back then, if I wanted something, I ended up having to go to Jita. That's 6 jumps away.
Frankly when goons announced they wanted to burn Jita again, I did not place my finger on it, but I had a "why bother" feeling, like if someone suggested it to me, I would say "what's the point of that?". But now I realize that this is coming from observations of the area from Osmon to Jita.
What I have noticed is that I don't have to go to Jita for everything. Last time I went shopping (and had buttered scones with tea) I actually bought some items without checking the system because when sorting for lowest price it was always Jita Jita Jita and I purchased some items and then went to Jita 4-4 expecting them to be there but they were in fact in Osmon in the Lai Dai station.
Because of this I wonder that if an organization wanted to really make a dent in things they would have to cover that area of the Forge region, from say the opposite of Jita from the direction to Osmon and Osmon on towards the adjacent systems, and not only gank freighters but mission runners too. In the latter case, affecting SoE LP creation could affect the market in ways that could benefit those who are properly positions and "gunboat market strategy" is perfectly a part of the game.
That plus the crimewatch mechanics could make things quite interesting and spread the love.
I hope the goons adapt and think of expanding in their future burns. They certainly have no shortage of people for it and I think a good time will be had by all. I regret not having enough time to go to Jita last week. Bring back DEEEEP Space! |

What's the point? That people in EVE pay no attention to what is going on around them. If I recall correctly it was blatantly advertised as to what was going to happen, when it was going to happen, whom it was going to happen to, and who was going to do it. Did anyone pay attention to the posts or blogs? No, they did not. What happened because of it? 500 billion + in destroyed ships, mods, etc. The tears are so delicious.
TL;DR: Pay more attention to the metagame. |
