I keep getting a message saying there's an update available. I download it, and it auto installs and restarts fine. If I then shut it down and restart it, it doesn't know it's been updated and reverts to version 1.0.24.1, and tells me there's an update available!!!

Mine updated earlier today. Just tried restarting it as you described but had no problems. Definitely on 1.0.25.0. |

I think the author forgot to change the version number in the app when checking for updates.

Feel free to mail the author, Six Anari, about the problem. He maintains the app quite actively and should get it fixed pretty quickly.

Found the problem. I had EVEMon installed in a directory other than the default. The update was installing to the default location, and not patching my install.

It does rock. I use it on 4 accounts and it's made my life so much easier.
My only problem is the update screen, I was playing Natural selection (HL mod) in a vent as a lurk and just as a jetpack Marine jumped up the "PLEASE UPGRDADE NOW" screen came up, by the time I got back in I had been killed
I highly recommend it to anyone with more than one account.

I'll see what I can do avoid any unfortunate deaths in the future.
And to the original poster, that's a known issue, the upgrader is currently always upgrading to C:\Program Files\EVEMon, no matter where you installed originally. I should have it fixed for the next release.

I'll see if i can't get the JP's nerfed in 3.2

I have seen some screen shots of that program and read the features. I even downloaded, but then at first start is asking me user name and password.
I felt a bit uneasy about that, and decided not to proceed.
Question: how do you guarantee security and privacy of those passwords?
Kind regards

It's open source. You can go to Six Anari's Evemon web page and view the code it's written with. Loads of people have and are satisfied with what Evemon does with the data. It's encrypted on your machine also. _____________________________________________________________________ "Tetsuo is our friend. If anyone's gonna kill him, it should be us." - Kaneda, Akira. |

As previously mentioned, the source code for the program is available so anyone can look it over and verify nothing underhanded is happening with your login info. Even if you can't read the source code yourself, dozens of other people with the exact same concern as you have. If there was something sneaky going on in there, someone would have found it. :)
And even so, if you don't trust giving it your login info, you can just load up a character XML file you've saved from the EVE-O website yourself and never give the program your login at all. You won't be able to track your skill training live that way, but at least you can still use the skill planner and other features.

Thank you Six.
I'm a bit paranoid about that because I simply don't understand anything about code, programming and encription matters.
Appreciate the clarification, I will try with the xml file.

I tried ECM a few times but could never get it working 100%. EveMon is a very nice program and worked first time.
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak. |

If you are uncomfortable giving it a username and pw, don't.
I didn't want to do that either. but you can got to the character page on this website, save the xml and select that as the input for EVEMON and it need never know your password.

It wouldnt be hard to remove just the code which send the login/pw to a site/email from the source code and the program would still work ;)
