For those of us who aren't able to attend Fanfest, could someone please post a summary/notes of Thursday's API roundtable? Since there's no dev track this year and the roundtable wasn't on the streaming schedule, there's no recording available.
Was anything new announced, was there anything of interest said, etc? |

There's a recording available. But its pay-walled. http://www.twitch.tv/ccp/c/4170107
I'd be interested to get a summary as well. I'm not going to pay CCP to get the latest updates on how to invest my time creating content for their game. |

I saw it on live stream and hope I remember everything.
API: SoxFour told about the new PI API he already introduced here on the forums. Also there will be API support for the new industry stuff, including ME/TE of owned BPs. The old IndustryJobs API is gonna get retired, but stay available for a while after summer to not create sudden disruption of 3rd party tools. Also he wants you to obey API cache timers and put your app name into your user agent header when requesting stuff. And if you want to do more than 30 requests per second you might get banned, so request whitelisting first if you have a good reason.
Public CREST: There are a couple new endpoints planned, the most interesting one I remember is a new marketprice endpoint that gives you a list of all items and their medium price like you get on module tooltips ingame. Edit: Just remembered: Also full war history of the game including killmails, at least as far back as the relevant info is available in suitable form.
SDE: Generally moving more towards YAML, especially the new industry stuff for summer. Also trying to fill in the missing dogma tables.
WebGL: I don't know what this even is, but there were no updates for this and it appears to be pretty dead.
SSO and authenticated CREST: Biggest news here, CCP got a new dev license version which they'll share soonGäó for feedback and there will be a beta test of SSO for which 3rd party devs can sign up. I don't remember all prereqs, but you got to have a web app and be willing to sign the dev license. There won't be real CREST features yet for this, it's just to beta test the SSO. First auth CREST feature planned for the game is saved fittings. They're slowly gonna take this step by step, first incorporating stuff like bookmarks before moving to things that actually have impact on your assets.
Client cache: Veritas loves the client cache so much that he wants it entirely for himself, so he wants to remove it from the client because he got jealousy issues.
I think that about covers it. |

I searched for "API" and came up with nothing. |

For completeness: The WebGL stuff refers to the "ccpwgl" library which allows ships, stations (all sorts of EVE scenery) to be rendered within the browser using WebGL. It was announced at last year's fanfest (as a successor to the small 3d library that still to this date provides the 3d map on eveonline's homepage).
At alliance tournament last year even a battle-playback demo was shown, using this technology. I tried to do a machinima-making app (eve-kino, see my sig, with short demo video) but stopped project due to low interest.
The library has changed hands within the company (as I've learned in the session) and I was told to ask about it in more details tomorrow (Saturday). I'll keep you posted - if interested. eve-kino - create machinimas with EVE assets in the browser eve-upro - an online browser application to support navigation in New Eden and beyond. |

With the increased expansion release rate I assume that they've noted that they need to do more frequent SDE releases? How do they feel about that? |

There wasn't anything said in this regard because the new release cycle was announced the day after the 3rd party panel. However, I don't think the new release policy makes much difference. The way I see it these new added expansion releases just replace the point releases we had in between expansions till now, and those already contained enough content to require a new SDE more often than not.
To put it in numbers: We had 6 Rubicon SDE versions already, and technically that one little module change in 1.4 would require the 7th. I don't think it'll get "worse" by having 6 week full releases. |
