I really like the Mordu's ships. I'm going to get that cruiser, mostly because I'm not a big fan of the square end of the frigate.
The cruiser, however, is plain awesome, and i'm assuming the paneles will be slightly movable, as they seem to be. |

I actually rather like the Barghest. At first glance I thought it would be better used for a faction carrier but in general I really like the design. It puts the peanutbutter on itself or it leaves the bonus round... - E1's greatest Hits |

I like these designs :) They combine the Caldari/Gallente design philosophies of rigid lines & curved surfaces very well.
Considering the LP store of Mordu's Legion has unique ECM modules, I suspect these ships might have some bonus to it as well (Mordu is the only faction offering faction -ECM, making it very expensive as they got very little agents)
Reading the announcement they'll expand the amount of agents (like they did with SoE) is a good move to increase their popularity. Gonna keep track of these ships as I'm a fan of E-war stuff! As an Aerospace Engineer, I can say that that video is absolute bollocks in a lot of the F-22's capabilities, especially about the communication and rain! (Although rain can have some detrimental effects to all stealth systems somewhat due to water's refractive properties). The F-22 is primarily designed for dog-fighting which never really happens nowadays but it does have a lot of ground attack and EWAR capabilities. It has had it's problems, although they are relatively low for a fighter of that caliber; if anything it is over engineered. They haven't been deployed in active warzone duty due to the fact they are not needed against the opponents that the US have been fighting recently, where cheaper and less risky assets have more than done the job. The cost is still pretty damn expensive though...
IMO I like the look of the frigate (although it does look a bit destroyer-y). The cruiser doesn't look too bad either, but the BS looks BS... I much rather see a BS based on the B-2 Bomber - http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/b2/images/b2_6.jpg |

You cannot argue against taste of design since this is highly subjective, however I can at least say that the decade old models were designed with more limited technology than we have today. The new models have a way higher polygon count and way more details than the old ones,
This here, is specifically the one part of the moa revamp that I agree with, however I believe that the new design overall is worse, because they went from something different and unique, following the Caldari style of being realistic, and not conforming to OCD aysymmetry, to now looking like just any other run of the mill mirrored ship design.
I liked the old style. Not because it's unpopular now, but because it had a uniqueness to it. I'd be all in favour of a complete change, as long as it maintained that distinct path away from symmetry, that crutch that CCP's art team has fallen on.
Oh. As for the ships in this thread; the frigate and cruiser look suite, the battleship, well for what it is, it looks stupid. As some sort of e-war or drone/fighter platform, maybe blown up as a carrier, it'd be pretty nice. |

I don't agree with "not fitting in Eve" design thing, because it is a faction which was not represented until today, so they bring a totally new design approach with them. Sansha for example also "does not fit" into Eve by that logic because they have spikes and no other ship in Eve offers something remotely similar. Yet no one complains. We have asymmetrical and vertical designs, now we get flat designs.
Also, once all the older ship models are redesigned, it won't look too diferent. Right now it seems that way because some of the old ships are made of like 100 polygons and offer nearly no detail in comparison, they look bulky with large areas of smooth surfaces, Dominix is a good example. On the other hand, ships like T3 and redesigned covert ops bombers look more like it.
Maybe I like them because they are remotely based on modern jet fighters. During fanfest stream the design dude said that he got his inspiration form the F22 and F117 - since modern jets are the awesomest looking piece of hardware humanity has ever made, I see nothing wrong with it. Better than looking like randomly thrown together piece of junk. Unusual design is not bad, but if it looks like **** and just for the unusualness sake, I rather take usual but good looking design.
I still remember when I started playing Eve I had to decide which race to pick, I would have ended up with Caldari, however exactly the ships that are being redesigned now, or were already, Raven, Moa, Osprey... made me choose Minmatar instead. Their ships had that Mad Max appeal and it was cool. Moa, not so much.
Something else, does somebody know already whether they will be shield or armor tanked or mixed?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed this. There is definitely some Tacit Blue inspiration in the mix.
Now if we could just talk the team into giving these ships say a 20% lower than average for their class sig radius... Of course something that could really add some flavor is that against Amarr they have say a 50% sig reduction bonus because the Amarr still use Radar. |

As a "stealth" ship they should probably have the lowest signature radius of any battleship, although with all the launchers sticking out all over the place that kind of seems to defeat the purpose. I wouldn't actually mind seeing the launchers recessed or hidden on this class of ships. I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week. |
