I really hope that all stations will be destructible one day. Obviously it'll start with nullsec and possibly lowsec but if the corp that owns a station is getting a cut of all the market transactions going on in that station you kinda have to be able to blow it up.
Three steps that could be taken to protect carebears using highsec stations I just came up with without thinking:
- Scaling reinforce timer and a mail notification sent to you when a station you have stuff in goes into reinforce. Highsec reinforce could be scaling from one to two weeks depending on the security status of the system.
- Once you actually attack a station in highsec after reinforce you get a suspect timer.
- Unless you're in an active war with the corporation that owns the station you're attacking, CONCORD will kill you.
For highsec stargates however even I might still be against giving those to players but just imagine the battles we would have over 4-4. A corp who thinks they can take it down and not only the corp who owns it will show up to defend it but every trader in EVE will show up to shoot the people attacking it. |

Outside of the paranoia surrounding stations, I'm more curious of stargates being destroyable. Gain presence in a system, then destroy all gates to isolate said star system. Then make it so it can only be accessible via WH or build own gates to control where systems are connected to. CCP's Motto: If it isn't broken, break it. If it is broken, ignore it. Be a great way to ensure people don't come back to the game. Oh look everything I own got blown up while I was gone and now I have nothing in the middle of nowhere..
Not to mention the lovely clone mechanics and such. If your clone gets blown up and you get blown up too while at work do you still lose SP? Lots of questions involved with this.
Be a super dumb move for npc stations to be destroyable because you KNOW it'll become a mission to wipe out all highsec stations. |

As it shoudl be, null (with perhaps low) being destructible, people would still have the option of keeping backup assets safe in highsec should they ever have to bail on their normal territory.
*edit*: They can attack highsec stations when/if NPC factions get a badass enough RTS AI that they can not only efficiently defend their space against aggressing capsuleers, but recruit the militia players alongside NPC fleets to siege the nullsec cartels |

Who leaves without sensibly evaccing their major assets from "dangerous" space anyways?
I know their will be some fringe cases where people have to stop suddenly but most quitters will know the risks surely?
