So, me and my friend just picked the game up on steam and since we got 0 knowledge in the game we thought it would be appropriate to ask some of you guys what skills we should take.
We do want to get into PvP quite fast and i think that we are gonna go with frigates.
I'm using EveMon but i have no idea what skills are worth taking/training now in the beginning. if you guys could show me a skill plan for minmatar pvp that would be awesome but just suggesting useful skills is awesome aswell.
Sorry for my bad english. It's not my first language. |

i wont give u a full skill plan
but minmatar is the hardest race to skill for as they r pretty mixed. Train Core skills (navigation, pg management, cpu management, cap) then fix on either shield or armor so that u can t2 tank your ships best case. then fix on either missiles or turrets train weapon support skills to 4. Weapon Upgrades and Advanced Weapon Upgrades too u want the basic drone skills for bigger ships too and try to avoid hulls where u arent atleast trained to level 4.
that should give u atleast one little pointer. |

If you join a decent corporation they'll ask for your API key. With this they will be able to see what skills you have and offer advice. |

Minmatar are known for speed, agilty, diversity.
Pick a ship you think looks cool/fun and train: the weapons system for that ship. the defensive skills for that ship. navigation skills. drone skills.
Join a player owned corp that does PvP and ask for fits and tactics.
Red vs Blue is a full time PvP entity that uses frigate fleets a LOT. Look them up. |

Most skills aren't "useless" and will come in handy at one stage or another, but one thing i find new players don't do enough is overheating their modules.
This can let you punch above your weight if you understand how to use it, i don't know how many kills and wrecks i delve into and see full racks of undamaged guns, tank mods and so forth.
I hope i didn't use too difficult language :x https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=298596&find=unread OATHS wants you. Come to the WH "Safety in eve is the greatest fallacy you will ever encounter. Once you accept this you will truely enjoy this game."

About PvP Corps. We want to find a corp where we can earn LP (No idea what im talking about here) since i've heard that you can earn a lot of money selling items you bought from the LP store. But since i'm new to the game i'm not sure where i'll find a corp that will help us with just that.
Any ideas on how we can find a corp that will help us with this?

'Corp for LP' sounds more like a Faction Wars venture. You get LP for kills and they also have warzone mechanics for LP and missions for LP.
There are 4 factions to choose from. You don't HAVE to be Minmatar just because your character is. I'd choose whoever is already near your current location. |

I have a character in both RvB and one in the Gallente Militia. You have to keep in mind that RvB is a lot nicer and a lot more forgiving if you're a new player. Faction warfare is almost never fair. You live in low sec which comes with all the advantages and disadvantages of lower security systems. The upside is that you can make some LP on the side, you get the proper adrenaline rushes that come with it and so on ...
RvB is right next to Jita, it's easy to buy and sell goods. You are also in high sec, so you can only get attacked by blues or the occasional 3rd party war target. You don't get podded, and generally the fights are pretty even and fair. RvB is all about just having fun and having good fights. It's not about crushing the hopes and dreams of your fellow pilot.
Faction warfare is in low sec, it's a lot harder to stock up on spare ships and modules. Low sec comes with the inherent pirates that hang out everywhere, as well as the hostile militias that are out to kill you. People in low sec never fight 'fair'. Pirates always roam in groups and even if you catch one, you can be sure of the fact his buddies are on the way. You get podded fairly often, so implant costs are something to consider as well. A lot of the faction warfare pilots will shoot anything that moves through their systems, they are pretty much glorified pirates really. In this environment it totally is about crushing your target and then making sure you get the pod for added satisfaction.
I would recommend joining RvB until you get a basic idea of decent ship fittings, kiting techniques, ... and then if you want to live closer on the edge, join a faction warfare militia. |
