Nosferatus are (FINALLY) getting changed, it seems. So a tiny cap cost seems reasonable. If this was ever in the cards, I believe it would give a purpose to having even one WCS, and consequently, to having just one scrambler, instead of our "ha ha can't get me" or "ha ha u r pwned" system of absolutes.

Ransom my foot. In all the blockades I've ran (and on the ones where I didn't make it) not once did I get a ransom offer. At best, some leetspeak about how awesome they were to pod a shuttle... or utter, South Korean-styled efficient-killer silence.

The ultimate solution with WCS: Make a pirate implant set that allows the use of 1wcs/implant plugged.

I like discussion we're having on this, but I don't think the system is really broke - its the come about because people decide to they have to fit a full rack of WCS due to gatecamps, which in turn creates ganksquads and more gatecamps to get the necessary amount of firepower in that short a span of time.

Edited by: PriceCheckMax on 26/05/2006 20:57:06 How about this:
1 WCS - neutralizes 1 warp scrambling point 2 wcs - neutralizes 2 warp scrambling points ... 8 WCS - neutralizes 8 warp scrambling points
Also, Add a halycon WCS BPOd to NPC sell orders

Sakura Nihil, that is the reason I mentioned this at all. In theory it wasn't broken. But it's not fun for anyone to have this escalating WCS-stacking, ganksquad scrambling arms race.

just remove stargates and put in a point to point warping system, no more gate camps means less WCS posts.

Edited by: Dr Fighter on 26/05/2006 22:41:48 How about
Chage warp core stabs to require activation (small cost like Dmg Ctrl), and make them chance basied.
You fit your warp core stabs and fire them all off hoping that enough hit to be able to warp, each wcs having a chance to nuetralise 1 point of scrambling (same rof as the scramblers, ie 5 seconds).
Chance based sucks for ecm, but may be good for the wcs debate. Each active scrambler acts like a lock on the warp core (and dirupting it), so the wcs has a chance to jam the effect. Perhaps adding a piont system aling with the scrambler, like 20k range -1 scram point and 5 lock stregnth and the wcs having +1 to warp strength and -2.5 to warp core disruption jamming. (maybe 50% chance is too much???? nahhhh ;p )
Sorry if this has been surjected before on one of the millions of threads about wcs, or ive just written exactly the same as the OP or maybe an adaption.
I wish i was more intellegent

Ships already have a propulsion strength attribute, and one day it could be put to use in the same way that ECM / ECCM works now.
eg Propulsion Strength = 8
1x -4 scrambler gives 50% chance of scramble 2x -4 scramblers give 75% chance of scramble
etc
It could be made racial too, with weaker multispectrals available, and WCS being turned into an active module that adds propulsion strength points, perhaps with racial / multispec versions.
But to be honest, I don't want to see this put into practice, as it would make the WCS situation worse. I often fit -4 scramble as a tackler, and still have people warp away.

Edited by: Dr Fighter on 27/05/2006 00:21:27 My thought was moving the propulsion strength to the stabs, so any scrambler on a ship with no stabs = 100% jam odds. While fittin a stab just gives you chance to escape and if it kicks in, and then only protects you from only one point of scrambling.
eg i fit two stabs and my enemy has a -2 scrambler, i turn on my stabs and pray that i get lucky and the stabs both jam a piont each, and i can escape.
Like um, a warp core degausser

There is nothing wrong with how WCS works now.
You can mount mulitple scramblers on your ship.
Scramblers can have a power of up to 3 ( though most ships can only use the ones up to 2 ), whereas with rare exceptions ( I know of only 2 WCS tech 2s in existance ) WCS only have a power of 1.
Thus if you devote your mid slots to scramblers, you will almost always beat out the person who devotes all his low slots to WCS.
I really don't see why so many people have a problem with the current system.
Yes it means that on occasion the person who is WCS outfitted escapes a solo pirate. However that's a choice of fitting on the pirates part since most do not devote their mid slots to scramblers as the folks who use lots of WCS devote their low slots to them.

Did you ever read my idea for stack-based?
