Hello,
My question today is a hypothetical one. The last time I got blown to bits I was jammed, had my drones attacking a rat in low sec. As one can imagine I could not target the aggressor. My drones were attacking the rat and of course are not smart enough to decide to attack the player. Had I had time to recall the drones to orbit my ship would they have then had a chance to decide to attack the player? I could not lock him but I read somewhere that after a full cycle of the players aggression module (like scram, etc.) They would attack if I have my drone settings to aggressive. Is this true?
Now lets say I had another flight of ECM drones and hypothetically I recalled the Hobs to the bay and then deployed the ECM flight. Without a target lock would the ECM's attack the player. Or would there be a chance they would attack the rat also shooting at me? Or not attack anything w/o at target lock if I am already being shot at before drone deployment?
Also this brings up the point about Rat aggression. If I have drawn the rats aggression and then a player shows up to blow me to bits is there any chance the rat may decide to agro the player? I somehow think not.

Yes.
If you read through threads on this subject you'll see lots of people saying that happened.

So the rat will actually switch targets?

Drones set to aggressive and deployed. You're sat in space. You are attacked, Your drones will attack whatever attacked you. They will continue to shoot this single target until it is dead. Before the first attacker NPC or PvP dies you are attacked by something else. Drones will continue to shoot the first target.
A slightly different scenario.
Drones set to aggressive and deployed. You're sat in space. You are attacked. You are instantly jammed. Your drones will attack whatever attacked you. If brute force isn't working, you're just not using enough. |

If you deploy them after someone is already attacking you, they will not automatically attack that ship, unless you order them to. (And to give that order, you need a target lock.)
If you had abandoned the Hobs and launched a bunch of ECM drones as soon as you saw the other player (before he could lock and jam you), then the new bunch of ECM drones would has attacked the player. Abandoning drones is faster than recalling and can save you sometimes.

Fairly sure they will just sit there idling until you explode.
Target A (the npc) is already engaged Target B (the pc) is already engaged
The player using ecm to jam you, in theory becomes the most likely target for the npc, because e-war.

That's interesting. NPC likes to attack EWARing targets more? |

hmm. Some will yes, it depends on the rat & where it is. So it's not something you can rely on really.
