Hello everyone,
I have a friend that tried Eve in the past, i got him a 1 month sub so he could get a better experience but he decided not to purchase more time afterwards. He seemed to enjoy Eve but never took the initiative to call me up to get online, only accepted me when I asked if he wanted to log on. I just got him a new charactor and a 21 day trial and I am hoping he will decide to stay.
Basically I want to know if he actually likes playing Eve or just puts up with me when I ask. Thanks All! Some guy > "What do you do for a living?" Me > "I make bad puns" Me > "Now go and mine your own business!" Some guy > *face palm* |

If he's not taking any initiative or even logging on, he probably doesn't like it. You just may have a stronger personality and he's doing it to keep you happy.
Just continue strong-arming him until he amasses some ISK and then have him give you his stuff before he quits. Take solace knowing that even after the sun sets, and your sky is filled with darkness, that the sun is still shining. -D. Entervention Psychotic Monk joins BNI |

Tbh I don't think that you can make him stay. Its very often the case that a player is either hooked in his first days or he is "meh" about it. In this case he will dabble around a bit and finally quit once there is nobody there to drive him to log in. I would suggest as well that you should save yourself the trouble. Eve is for a very specific audience, I had a couple buddies who tried that as well, though all claimed that it is a very good game, no one of them stayed for long. |

You seem to be trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. If after a month of play the bug hasn't bitten him, it probably won't.
That's ok, EVE isn't for everyone. |

Some get it quickly, for some it is a slow burn, where the interest grows as they discover more. They can become long term lovers of the game
Some Just have a crappy time given them. They leave. There is one EvE. Many people. Many lifestyles. WE are EvE |

It's a tough game to get in to.
I tried for years to get a mate to play and he always said "not interested".
Eventually him and 2 others gave it a try without my interference other than to be around to answer questions.. After one month they were hooked.... he plays and pvp's far more than I do now :) Probably has a better overall capture of pvp in general and decision making and theory crafting.
It's very mind boggling to come in new by yourself, if you can get a couple at a time it's easier.
We have another starting in a months time, we've managed to bring him around after months of streaming for him :) We have roles for him to start off so he doesn't appear useless (pvp wise), a skill training plan for the first 3 months so he doesn't have to make the decisions right off the bat... and in no way are we going to make him do missioning or mining unless he chooses too after :)
New players NEED support from existing players and not just ISK, but advice and knowledge as it can be ovverwhelming.
All about baby steps :)

This likely will require the eventual reach-around, so make sure you're up for it before getting started down this path. But hey, whatever works. |
