o/ CSM9,
If I recall; the last CSM was a stakeholder for Team Five-O.
That dev team was responsible for stuff like the new Crime-watch under the Retribution expansion, the Discovery system scanner under the Odyssey expansion and the Deployables under the Rubicon expansion.
Now that CCPgames is set in it's five year plan, with the last year being about stream lining the Company and it's development process, plus the Rubicon expansion showing more signs towards CCP Seagull's vision of the Player Gate Building side of the plan.
Is CSM9 still a stakeholder in the proper dev team that is responsible for the next phase of this plan ?

If I recall, Team Super Friends was responsible for the War Declaration system in the Inferno Expansion, the Bounties, Kill Rights in the Retribution expansion, Probe scanning improvements in the Odyssey expansion and, player owned Customs Offices in hi-sec in the Rubicon expansion.
Should the CSM9 also be a Stakeholder for that dev team, that has high-profile devs on it like CCP Greyscale and CCP SoniClover and CCP Punkturis.

PS: please ask a(ny) dev team if they can iterate further on the Mercenary Marketplace it's a bit lack luster, I don't feel a lot of "revenge" after placing a bounty on someone and when was the last time any of you sold a kill right ? So, CSM8 was the stakeholder to Team Five-O as you correctly noted. The majority of the industry work, though, was actually done by Game of Drones and Superfriends.
That shouldn't be taken to mean, however, that the CSM wasn't involved. Both teams worked with CSM8 very closely throughout the process, to such a degree that the only real difference between our interaction with Five-O and with GoD and Superfriends was the bi-weekly review meeting. All of the other teams consulted regularly with CSM8 as well, regardless of how player-facing their work was or was not.
CSM9 is continuing stakeholder status with Team Five-O (which, as far as "high profile devs" goes, includes CCPs Fozzie, Masterplan, Xhagen, Bettik and Habakuk amongst others, and I'm sure they're all very sad you excluded them.) However, CSM8 maintained an excellent relationship relationship with all the teams. On CSM9 we plan to be completely available to every team and fully expect to have the same level of engagement as last year.
So, fear not - regardless of who we're "officially" stakeholders to, we'll be involved. Member of the Goonswarm Economic Warfare Cabal |

To be perfectly honest, I've never truly understood the ideas behind the stakeholder status, it's always seemed a fairly abstract concept with regards to a game and the way the CSM interacts with CCP.
From above "So, CSM8 was the stakeholder to Team Five-O as you correctly noted. The majority of the industry work, though, was actually done by Game of Drones and Superfriends." that just seems "odd" to me - I know what a stakeholder is considered in a corporate structure here in Australia, but I'm just not entirely sure how this is meant.
Perhaps the entire idea of "stakeholder" is completely different in Iceland ? :)
Going by the above comment here's PART of the wikipedia entry for stakeholder that seems to apply: "Project stakeholder, a person, group or organization with an interest in a project"
Seems a bunch of hoo-ha over nothing ?
In Australia a stakeholder is often someone who owns a share of the company, (not shares or at least not voting shares - and most often referring to not-for-profit companies).
Perhaps my understanding of this was wrong at the outset, idk. ;)
Seems the CSM would be a stakeholder or not regardless of whether they were even CSM candidates - as we all have interest in the project ? CSM7 Skype Leak

Would there be more hoo-ha IF there was no CSM ?
CCPgames usually f's up when they never listen to the community.
The CSM members are player representatives from said community.
Their Stakeholder status is only for One out of half a dozen dev teams.
This status about the equivalent of a Senior Producer, and why it took such a long time to get it.
My concern was when the CSM is Not taken serious among the other dev team members, since they are not a stakeholder there.
This is to prevent a(ny) scarce resources CCPgames has for development to be wasted upon bad iteration or features we do not want

Stakeholder (in CSM terms) is a marker of where we get involved and how often. We have biweekly meetings with 5-0 and are updated on what they are working on, where they are on various projects. Our input is more continuous through the entire process.
Other teams may bounce ideas off of us or not, as they wish, and sometimes it is just when they are at a near finished project . . . giving us less chance to advise or give input.
Stakeholder is a seat at the table as opposed to being a sworn to secrecy playtester/idea editor
It means we are PART of the process itself.
IF we keep up the performance of the past few CSM's we can hope/push for us being signed up as stakeholders on other teams and have a deeper effect on the game development.

Is CCPgames process management under NDA ?
Could you (or the CSM as a whole) give the eve online player-base your view on the new 10-point-releases-per-year-process ?
Should CCPgames bring more often dev blogs like this recent one out to keep in closer contact with it's broader customer base ?
What are the process'es strengths and possible bottlenecks, and how can the Company learn from a(ny) mistakes and adapt to player wishes?
Can the CSM give a collective elaborate comment, like a miniature minutes publication, every 6 weeks with these new point releases as a topic ?

We could*, either collaboratively or individually, write a retrospective/review of sorts upon each release, though how much detail can be given with regards to "this is how (feature) started & evolved internally"... I can't really say offhand but I'd guess it'd be less than you might hope for. "The CSM (or these members) had concerns and so it changed a couple times and released as what you saw", probably okay, "It looked like this at first and we had concerns with these specific parts, CCP changed these ones, and released as what you saw", maybe not.

Thanks for this, it actually clarifies it pretty well.
I gotta say however, that I am kind of shocked that 9 CSM's later you guys are only getting the end of the project process and not a seat at the table on a lot more than just 1 group - for all the TALK we've had year after year of "This CSM has had so much more influence than the last year."
Can you really not see why we are perhaps just that little bit jaded at this point ?

I have said before, each csm changes the rules and redefines how things are done. Each iteration (hopefully) improves upon the last.
WE have meeting schedules next week and a half. Not just the regular stakeholder meeting but 11 of them scheduled with various teams. This will give the new CSM9 folks a chance to meet teams right out of the gate rather than just text on skype and waiting for the first summit.
This has not been done before. Odd thing is that I embrace the change and frown at my work schedule trying to figure out how many of these meetings will be possible. But what I doubt will happen is a released set of minutes though if you follow the blogs aggregate I am sure you will be able to get some info as we go along.
Rev, yes I understand why the electorate feels jaded. From the outside it is hard to see that anything is happening. And knowing we are 'stakeholders' on just one team makes you wonder what all the fuss is about.
But this is the change that takes time. WE have had to prove our worth and our trustworthiness to the teams. To show that we can work with them and give good advise. (Fast and accurate) I, optimistically hope that this flurry of meetings right at the start of the season is a sign of our past success.
ask me in 2 weeks how they went

The meetings! Oh god the meetings! So many meetings!
I just wish I could go to more of them (downside to being in the same time zone, and working normal hours in an office)
But delegation happens, and questions are asked. And they're all recorded so I can catch up on them. And then there's the skype channels. and the forum posts.
